This freeware package introduces a meticulously crafted Bylina repaint for the SCDS Yak-40 v1.3 convertible variant, incorporating a balanced mix of cargo and passenger capability, along with a convenient side cargo door. It requires the main aircraft package (SCDSYK40.ZIP) and remains incompatible with the earlier Yak-40K v1.2RC release. Created by developer Maxim Mysin, it uses a self-installer that simplifies the setup process in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Beyond offering a distinctive visual theme associated with the Central Russia region, it also preserves the model’s unique cargo-passenger functionality.
Technical Notes on the Yak-40
The Yak-40 marks a significant milestone for short-haul flight operations, originally designed in the Soviet era to service regional airports with limited infrastructure. This tri-jet airliner entered service in the late 1960s under the Yakovlev Design Bureau. Its compact size and robust performance make it ideal for exploring smaller airfields across various regions. The SCDS Yak-40 v1.3 reflects that legacy, with a convertible interior that accommodates both cargo deliveries and passenger transport.
Notable Features
- Bylina Livery: Accurately represents a Central Russia visual theme, meticulously painted to maintain authenticity.
- Convertible Airframe: Preserves the side cargo door configuration found in SCDS Yak-40 v1.3, enabling seamless cargo and passenger operations.
- Self-Installer: Streamlines the setup procedure by automatically placing required files in the correct directories.
- Compatibility: Exclusively functions with SCDS Yak-40 v1.3 (SCDSYK40.ZIP), ensuring a stable and cohesive in-simulator experience.

Installation Procedure
After obtaining the self-extracting installer, point it to the main folder of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Once completed, the new Bylina scheme will be readily available from the simulator’s aircraft selection menu. If you ever install patches for the SCDS Yak-40 v1.3 and discover that the livery is missing, simply re-run the same installer to restore it.
Special Thanks
Livery creator Maxim Mysin has invested significant effort in reproducing the Bylina paintwork. In addition, acknowledgments go to Zbynek Pavlon for the exceptional rivet details that enhance all SCDS Yak-40 liveries. Together, these contributions ensure an immersive visual effect suited for both passenger flights and specialized cargo hauling.
