This freeware package brings the iconic tri-jet experience of Boeing’s 727-200 variant to your Microsoft Flight Simulator X setup. Designed for flights of medium to long ranges, this narrow-body airliner was a mainstay for numerous commercial carriers. Now, Aerostar Airlines’ custom repaint takes center stage here, showcasing reflective textures and detailed exterior markings.

Technical Highlights of the Tri-Jet Design

The Boeing 727-200 employs three rear-mounted engines, which originally distinguished it from many other aircraft in its class. Its T-tail configuration streamlines airflow control, assisting with stability during climb and descent phases. These design elements are faithfully reproduced in this add-on, ensuring realistic in-sim aerodynamics and accurate flight characteristics.

Realistic Texturing and Reflective Surfaces

Visual fidelity stands out in this model, offering finely rendered fuselage reflections. Original textures by Rick Piper and David Maltby establish an authentic foundation, while Jim Martin provided panel reflectivity that captures changing light conditions. This attention to detail makes exterior views and spot-plane modes especially immersive.

Aerostar Airlines Livery Repaint

The high-resolution repaint by Steven Martini reflects Aerostar Airlines’ branding with precise logos and streamlined color transitions. Every rivet and seam has been meticulously reproduced on the fuselage, complementing the aircraft’s real-world counterpart. The final result includes subtle weathering effects, delivering a credible balance of cleanliness and operational wear.

Flight Deck and Performance Accuracy

Pilots familiar with older airliner layouts will appreciate the layout of the 727’s cockpit. The model by David Maltby incorporates instrument readouts that mirror real-world EPR (Engine Pressure Ratio) gauges and engine spool-up behavior. From takeoff roll to cruise altitude, the power outputs of the aircraft’s engines respond in a manner consistent with classic tri-jet standards.

Included Base Model and Freeware Status

This release is a complete freeware package, bundling the base model with all textures straight out of the box. No extra downloads are required to start flying. Because of this inclusive design, installation remains straightforward for anyone looking to expand their Microsoft Flight Simulator X hangar with a classic 727-200 experience.

This is literally a useless plane. No controls, no cockpit and the only thing you can do is retract the landing gear.
