This repaint package for the freeware FAIB 737-700 model brings Air China’s distinctive livery to Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 in multiple texture formats, complemented by a custom lightmap. Although the base model is not included here, it can be obtained from the Fly Away Simulation library. Everything has been prepared by Mariano Bonaccorso to ensure a consistent and accurate depiction of Air China’s short-to-medium haul Boeing 737 service.

The Boeing 737-700 is part of a popular single-aisle family favored by Air China for regional routes. With a fuselage length well-suited to accommodate mid-range journeys, this aircraft typically operates busy domestic services across China, although it can also handle certain international sectors. Through this repaint, you will notice a faithful representation of the Air China title and tail insignia, enhancing immersion when populating traffic schedules or simply enjoying AI movements in your virtual skies.

Texture Formats and Custom Lightmap

Inside the provided texture folder, you will find three distinct files suited to older and newer platforms:

• DXT5 for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, ensuring optimal clarity and performance.
• DXT3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, designed to balance visual quality and loading speed.
• 32-bit for those who need a source texture for conversions or previewing in external tools. Please note that 32-bit textures can create performance obstacles and are generally not recommended for day-to-day sim usage.

A custom lightmap file is also included, allowing the aircraft lighting to appear more realistic at night or in lower visibility conditions.

Installation Procedure

Begin by placing the enclosed texture folder into your FAIB 737-700 aircraft directory. Then, open the aircraft configuration file and append an entry resembling the example below. Replace “X” in the [fltsim.X] section with the next incremental value in your existing sequence. Ensure that you adjust any other lines accordingly if needed, especially if your installation path or simulator version differs. If you are unfamiliar with aircraft config entries, check both the model documentation and references in the simulator’s SDK regarding aircraft management.

This repaint relies on the FAIB7377V11.ZIP freeware model by FSX AI Bureau, accessible in the Fly Away Simulation library. Without installing that base package, the textures provided here will not function.
