This repaint offers the recognizable D-ECSI registration for a German-operated Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee, tailored exclusively for the payware A2A Simulations model (base package not included and available through a payware retailer such as SimShack). Created by Tim Scharnhop, it provides a detailed livery that showcases the aesthetic of a real-world single-engine aircraft often spotted in European training and leisure flights. This repaint is designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and incorporates authentic markings and refined exterior details.

Distinctive Livery Characteristics

Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee (brief background): This four-seat, low-wing monoplane emerged from Piper Aircraft’s prolific lineup. Known for stable handling and a 180-horsepower engine, it has long been a favorite among flight schools and private owners. The D-ECSI rendition highlights the German registry, bringing a local touch to your flight simulator experience.

Color Scheme Specifics: Expect a subtle yet accurate paint layout replicating the real-world D-ECSI scheme, including nationality markings and appropriate text placement on the fuselage. The repaint features careful attention to rivets, panel lines, and a realistic sheen.

Implementation Procedures

  1. Extraction: Unzip the file named A2A_PA28_D-ECSI.ZIP to a convenient temporary directory. Be sure to maintain the folder setup.
  2. Texture Placement: Inside the unzipped package, locate the folder texture.D-ECSI. Move or copy this folder into the A2A_Piper_PA28_180_Cherokee directory, found under Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes.
  3. Aircraft Configuration: Open aircraft.cfg in a plain text editor. Identify the last [fltsim.XX] entry and insert the following block, adjusting “XX” to the next available sequence number:

[fltsim.XX]
title=Piper Pa-28-180 Cherokee D-ECSI
sim=PA28_180

texture=D-ECSI

ui_manufacturer="A2A Piper"
ui_type="PA28-180 Cherokee"
ui_variation="D-ECSI"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="A2A Simulations Inc."

  1. Save & Launch: Save your changes to aircraft.cfg. Once you start Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the newly added variant should appear in the aircraft menu, ready for immediate selection.

Key Notes for Sim Enthusiasts

  • The underlying payware Piper PA-28 Cherokee from A2A Simulations is required (not included with this download).
  • This repaint accurately depicts the D-ECSI registration, capturing the essence of a German-based Cherokee with a 180-hp powerplant.
  • Developed by Tim Scharnhop, ensuring the rendition stays faithful to visual and operational nuances of the real airplane.
