This enhanced Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800 add-on provides a detailed simulation of the double-deck, wide-fuselage jet, featuring a precise visual model, advanced animations, and realistic handling characteristics. It is based on the Project Airbus package and repainted by Tom Collins. Although primarily developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, it is also usable within Microsoft Flight Simulator X without significant issues. Thomas Ruth has adapted the original model for additional compatibility. Below, you will find an outline of essential features, technical notes, and operational details for this freeware release on Fly Away Simulation.
Aircraft Model and Visual Enhancements
Project Airbus Base Package: This freeware Airbus A380-800 includes the Project Airbus model, which offers an accurate fuselage shape, parallel bogies (the main landing gear assemblies that can move independently for improved ground handling), and a host of innovative animations. The aircraft is specially configured to reflect the distinctive design and performance aspects of the real-world A380 operated by Singapore Airlines.
Technical Refinements
- Dynamic Wing Flex (wing section movement responding to lift, ground spoilers, and weight changes).
- Drooping Control Surfaces when engines are off (flaps, ailerons, and elevators rest in lowered positions for added realism).
- Fuel-Load Influence on aerodynamic surfaces (accounting for balance variations during different stages of flight).
- Double-Strobe Light System (hard-coded for enhanced realism, simulating realistic flash patterns).
- Custom Engine Fan Animation at startup, shutdown, and during windmilling (with built-in inertia effects).
- Independent Gear Bogies allowing each gear truck to pivot correctly while taxiing or landing.
- Accurate Aileron LAF Simulation (Load Alleviation Function reducing wing bending moments).
- Animated Pack Vents and Idle-Reverser Visuals.
- Customized Nosewheel Steering movement for precise ground handling.
- Improved Antenna Rendering without the “fuse hole” artifact in FSX SP2.
- Functional Window Wipers, plus animated probe sensors.
Installation Notes
Simply unpack the downloaded folder into your main simulator directory (either the “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004” root or “Microsoft Flight Simulator X” folder). Ensure that all folders (such as SimObjects, Aircraft, or Airplanes) are correctly merged. Once installed, the Singapore Airlines A380-800 should appear in your available aircraft list.

Performance and Compatibility
This rendition of the A380 is originally designed around Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 architecture yet, courtesy of adjustments by Thomas Ruth, it operates reliably in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. If any issues arise during installation or flight, you can consult community forums, but official support is not guaranteed.
Credits to the Creators
Airframe design and core functionality stem from the Project Airbus team, consisting of Demetris Themistocleous, Derek Mayer, Sheldon Fernandes, Tom Collins, and Alexis Vletsas. Repaint has been carried out by Tom Collins, highlighting the Singapore Airlines livery that debuted when the carrier became one of the earliest operators of the Airbus A380. Additional contributions from Andy Warden, John Tavendale, Steve McBee, Shane Olguin, Panagiotis Delizisis, Thanasis Delizisis, Ken Mitchell, Talal Alhaj, and Fraser Turner have significantly enriched this package. Conversion for expanded compatibility was performed by Thomas Ruth.

I've tried the A380 Texture.
Everything's good, except that the Virtual Cockpit view isn't what the regular FSX VC View used to be. And rotation of view also seems to give a see-through into the cabin.
