Discover an updated rendition of Molokai Airport, crafted as a freeware enhancement by Phillip Coyle. Located on the island of Molokai near Kaunakakai in Hawaii, this revamped scenery refines runway alignments, taxiway layouts, and parking spots to align closely with real-world data. It incorporates default structures from Microsoft Flight Simulator X to ensure a more immersive experience for those flying across the Hawaiian archipelago.

Visual Preview of the Airport

Molokai Airport Scenery.

Molokai Airport Scenery in Hawaii.

Important Technical Details

This scenery modification adjusts PHMK using dimensions verified through satellite-based research, specifically referencing Google Earth coordinates. It reformats essential elements of the airport, such as:

  • Runway parameters, including length and width
  • Taxiway alignment and connections
  • Parking positions for diverse aircraft categories

In addition, a small variety of standard objects originating from the default FSX scenery library have been positioned around the airport grounds to add visual appeal. Users should set their scenery complexity to at least Normal to ensure all placed elements become visible.

Compilation Framework

The two included BGL files—designed by Phillip Coyle—were assembled using Airport Design Editor. This utility streamlines airport file creation by helping configure realistic surfaces and compile them into a format recognized by Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

How to Integrate This Add-On

  1. Locate the files named PHMK_ADE.BGL and PHMK_ADE_CVX.BGL in the download package.
  2. Copy both files into your main Flight Simulator directory under Addon Scenery/Scenery.
  3. When you launch your simulator, the revised airport layout will be ready.

Returning to the Default Setup

  1. Remove PHMK_ADE.BGL and PHMK_ADE_CVX.BGL from the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.
  2. Reload your simulator, and the stock airport arrangements will reappear.
