This add-on refreshes the default airport at Naxos (LGNX) in Greece by introducing newly crafted parking areas, an upgraded apron, and bespoke terminal structures designed by the creator, Manuel Seiwald. It is intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2/Acceleration and provides a more accurate rendition of this small Aegean island airport. The following details outline how to install and utilize the features included in this freeware release, with particular attention to the technical enhancements that heighten the overall immersion in this region.

Key Enhancements and Scenic Details

Naxos Airport (LGNX) stands on the largest island within the Cyclades, featuring terrain that offers unique takeoff and landing experiences. This rendition captures the apron layout more precisely and integrates custom buildings tailored to the existing geography. Local topography has been refined to emphasize runway surroundings, ensuring more realistic immersion for virtual pilots flying around the picturesque Aegean Sea.

Upgraded Apron and Parking Facilities

Within this release, parking bays and ramps are based on revised data to ensure alignment with the real-world location. By incorporating finely tuned ground markings, it provides more accurate stand positions and overall taxiway geometry. These new additions benefit both scheduled and general aviation traffic, enhancing realism when operating smaller aircraft suited for shorter runways.

Custom Structures and Airport Buildings

Every hangar and terminal section has been constructed to reflect the architectural style of this Greek island. The modeler employed various texture techniques to replicate the authentic tone of local materials, ensuring natural integration with stock FSX scenery. These minor details give the airport a lifelike appearance matching the surrounding Cycladic ambiance.

Compatibility and Setup Process

This scenery is explicitly built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2 or the Acceleration expansion. It should easily integrate with existing add-ons, as it focuses primarily on airport-specific coverage. Follow these guidelines to properly configure the newly installed airport:

  1. Unzip the contents of naxosairport.zip into a temporary folder of your choice.
  2. Transfer the folder titled Naxos 1.0 into the Addon Scenery directory within the main FSX installation folder.
  3. Launch FSX and open the Settings tab, then access Scenery Library. Click on Add Area, locate the Naxos 1.0 folder, highlight it, and confirm by clicking OK. Once done, press OK again to finalize.

After completing these steps, Naxos (LGNX) will appear enhanced within the simulator, presenting the newly arranged parking options, improved apron surface, and custom buildings.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.
  3. Activate in Scenery Library

In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

There is no airport terminal or apron as pictured, merely a runway.
