FSX Glasair III

Glasair III “Irish” delivers a clean, fictional Flash-Speed paint scheme inspired by real-world Glasair finishes, with a distinctive signature tail marking and a sharper sense of speed in the virtual cockpit. Designed for FSX, it requires the Australian Simulation Glasair III base aircraft and includes texture adjustments tailored for smooth in-sim visibility.

Glasair III "Irish". This texture is a fictional texture inspired by actual paints that some Glasairs have. Simple but nice and makes the Glasair look even faster. Also has the author's signature tail marking. Textures only for the Aussim Glasair III. By Kyle Phillipson.

Australian Simulation Glasair III repaint
Flash-Speed Version 1.0
December 2007

FS-X Version ONLY!
(Although it could be converted to FS9 with knowledge of Photoshop.)

This skin set is for the Australian Simulation Glasair III (www.aussim.com.au/glasair). It is a fictional paint scheme of a Glasair III. The main theme idea was fostered from looking at other Glasair paint jobs to create my own. This paint was created using Australian Simulation's Glasair III paint kit with Photoshop.

INSTALLATION:
1.)
Unzip to your Glasair III Airplanes folder, typically:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Australian Simulation Glasair III\
(You will find a new folder called 'texture.N5P33D' go into that folder and make sure you are looking at .dds files and not another folder.)

2.)
Run the Aircraft Control Panel and using the add texture wizard enter the following information:

Title= Glasair III N5P33D
Texture= N5P33D
Variation= Flash-Speed
Description= Glasair III N5P33D
VisDam= As you wish.

Attention FSX Acceleration users:
I have modified the ASG_GLASS.dds file so that you may see outside the airplane when in VC. The only modification was the alpha channel was moved to a dark gray. You may need to recopy this file into the folder after adding the aircraft via the Aircraft Control Panel.

IMPORTANT:
You must use the Aircraft Control Panel software to add this texture, otherwise required texture files will not be loaded for this skin set.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Excellent repaints! How I would like to get the paint kit myself as I have a pilot friend who owns a Glasair lll. I have flown it and he has flown my sim one. I wish I could make a texture for his plane. Bought the sim version and thought I could get the paint kit. No such luck. Your "Irish" version looks cool. Ron
