Experience a refined representation of Fukuoka Airport (RJFF) in Japan, meticulously crafted by Ray Smith for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This free add-on leverages the most recent release of Airport Design Editor (ADE) to deliver updated taxiway networks, multiple extra parking stands, restructured support vehicle routes, and comprehensive signage adjustments. It also optimizes the visual perspective from the tower view, making it easier to monitor aircraft movements across the airport grounds.

Focused Modifications for Enhanced Airport Layout

Taxiways and Signage. The mod revises existing taxiway alignments, ensuring that each path reflects current airport layouts. The signs have been refined to improve navigation for both user-piloted flights and AI traffic.

Assigned and Expanded Parking. Gates and parking spots receive updated assignments, allowing for more realistic aircraft parking patterns. This extension accommodates airline schedules and AI traffic more effectively.

Support Vehicle Routes. Service vehicles benefit from redesigned paths that promote smoother ground handling operations, eliminating potential intersections with active taxi lanes.

Control Tower Perspective. When using tower view, enjoy more expansive visibility to monitor ground movements and runway approaches, reflecting a real-world tower vantage point.

Included BGL Files

RJFF_ADE_RS.BGL
Primary airport data overlay for modified parking, taxi routes, and signage.
RJFF_ADE_OBJ.BGL
Contains supplementary objects such as jetway extensions that enrich the scenery.

Practical Installation Steps

  1. If you have a previous version of this AFCAD for RJFF (by Ray Smith or otherwise), remove or back it up outside the simulator folders to prevent conflicts.
  2. Copy the RJFF_ADE_RS.BGL file into your “Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/scenery” folder.
  3. Place the RJFF_ADE_OBJ.BGL file into your “Flight Simulator X/Scenery/Global/scenery” directory.
  4. To display the adjusted jetway extensions properly, follow these essential texture steps:
  • Note: Skip this texture-copy procedure if you have already performed it for another of Ray Smith’s airport sceneries.
  1. Go to “FSX\Scenery\NAME\Texture” and locate jfk_jetway.dds (daytime texture) and jfk_jetway_LM.dds (night texture).
  2. Copy these two files and paste them into “Scenery\Global\Texture” within your main simulator folder.
  3. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and the newly applied textures will load automatically.
  • Important Note: Use only RJFF_ADE_RS.BGL in your Addon Scenery/scenery folder. Double-check that there are no other RJFF.bgl entries present, as duplicates will compromise gate assignments and cause unpredictable scenery issues.
  • If you use an AI traffic package, be sure no alternative AFCAD file for RJFF is installed, to eliminate overlapping or conflicting data.

Uninstallation Instructions

  1. To revert to the classic default airport layout, remove or delete the two BGL files from your simulator folders. Microsoft Flight Simulator X will then reload its default RJFF scenery on your next session.

Fukuoka Airport stands as a key transportation hub in southwestern Japan, with its single runway (16/34) accommodating high volumes of domestic and regional flights. This updated AFCAD package refines services, signage, and user immersion to reflect actual airport operations more closely. Enjoy your flights in and out of Kyushu’s bustling aviation gateway, brought to you by Ray Smith.
