Here is a high-fidelity repaint portraying a classic Boeing 737-400 sporting the distinctive white Virgin Express livery. It is intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 users who seek traffic realism and want to integrate an authentic European operator into their AI environment. This add-on is freeware and requires a separate base model (made freely available in the Fly Away Simulation mod library).

Notable Visual Characteristics

Virgin Express, a Belgian-based low-cost carrier, once utilized the 737 Classic family extensively, including the 737-400 series. This repaint highlights the airline’s understated white scheme with subtle markings. The textures, originally crafted by Davy Rodriguez, precisely capture the fuselage layout while preserving essential details such as antenna placements and flap track fairings. The result offers both enthusiasts and traffic spotters an accurate AI model that aligns with what you might have seen on city-to-city European routes.

Performance-Focused AI Model

This repaint is designed for the AI Aardvark B737-400 platform, which is optimized for smooth performance. The model employs five Levels of Detail (LOD) to ensure fluid rendering for AI traffic, even in crowded virtual skies. Since each LOD reduces complexity when an aircraft is farther away, you can populate your simulator with more 737-400s without experiencing a measurable impact on frame rates.

Optimized Animations

The AI Aardvark model includes functioning control surfaces like flaps and spoilers, as well as animated landing gear. You will also find accurately placed antennas, visible flap canoes, and simulated gear bays. Specular highlights add an additional layer of realism, reacting to ambient light sources and making the exterior shimmer just like real aluminum skins at cruising altitude.

Textures Only

It is important to note that these are texture files alone. The underlying 737-400 model by AI Aardvark is not supplied here. You will need to obtain the base model separately from the Fly Away Simulation library in order to fully utilize this repaint. Once both components are combined, your AI traffic will feature a highly recognizable operator that once flew out of Brussels, connecting European destinations with an efficient single-aisle fleet.
