This freeware repaint offers Cebu Pacific’s distinctive Douglas DC-9-32 textures for use in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It brings the airline’s well-recognized color scheme directly to your virtual hangar for short-haul flights. The livery was carefully crafted by Frank Idone and is intended for SGA’s latest DC-9 series model. Please note that this package contains repainted textures only; the base model is required and can be located in the Fly Away Simulation library.

Technical Repaint Aspects

These textures were engineered to replicate the classic Cebu Pacific branding that once appeared on an actual DC-9 fleet. SGA’s model geometry ensures a faithful representation of the aircraft’s fuselage contours, while the repaint includes precise alignment of the airline’s markings on the tailfin and engines. This level of detail offers an immersive visual experience and adds to the authenticity of regional operations in simulated skies. Cebu Pacific, being a major low-cost carrier from the Philippines, used to operate these reliable short- to medium-range jets on various routes with challenging runway lengths, making the DC-9 a suitable choice for many local airports.

Installation Procedure

  • Unzip this package into the specific aircraft folder where you have placed your SGA DC-9 files.
  • Open and edit your aircraft.cfg file, then insert the following section. Make sure to replace “XX” with the correct sequence number:

The DC-9 was designed specifically to operate from short runways
and on short- to medium-range routes so that the speed, comfort,
and reliability of jet transportation could be extended to hundreds
of communities previously served only by propeller-driven airliners.
Fuselage of the Series 30 DC-9 is nearly 15 feet longer than the Series 10,
at 119.3 feet (36.3 m), providing seats for up to 115 passengers.
Series 30 wingspan was increased to 93.3 feet (28.4 m),
and a high-lift wing system of leading edge slats gives the Series 30
excellent short-field performance. Most Series 30s attach JT8D-7 or JT8D-9
engines, while others run on JT8D-11 or JT8D-15 for improved thrust.

Aircraft Background

The DC-9-32, which debuted in the late 1960s, was celebrated for its impressive climb rate and robust JT8D powerplants. This configuration made it ideal for high-frequency routes where operators encountered corrugated runways or smaller regional airports. Cebu Pacific utilized these jets effectively across island-hopper flights, ensuring efficient turnarounds and comfortable travel for passengers. The series features an expanded fuselage over earlier variants, improving payload capacity and allowing more cabin space.

Developers and Credits

All credit goes to the talented SGA team who meticulously created this DC-9 series model and to Frank Idone for producing the authentic Cebu Pacific repaint. Their combined efforts provide the community with an immersive platform for simulating regional routes in true Philippine style.
