FSX AFCAD For YBBN

Brisbane International Airport (YBBN) receives a comprehensive AFCAD refresh for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, with an optional crosswind layout that enables realistic dual-runway departures and arrivals. Updated parking assignments, terminal stands and jetways, taxiways and signage, corrected PAPI guidance, rebuilt service roads, and refined tower-view perspectives bring the default airport closer to current charts.

Brisbane International Airport, Queensland, Australia. This airport update is for YBBN with two optional files made only for the FSX default airport: one version with the crosswind runway activated and in full operation where both runways will be used for takeoff/landing and one version as the default runway operation. Assigned parking now updated as per their website, international and domestic terminals updated including updating the jetways for them, taxiways and taxi signs updated to the latest charts, TVASI now corrected to PAPI for both runways, support vehicle roads rebuilt and many other improvements, airport views are from inside the control tower (when in tower view). If you are using my earlier version please remove/delete these files first, if you would rather keep them remove them to another folder not associated with FSX.

  • Take the runway operation file of your choice (only one) and the YBBN_CVX.bgl and place both of these files into: Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/scenery folder.
  • Take the YBBN_OBJ.BGL file and place this file into: Flight Simulator X/Scenery/Global/scenery folder.

There are jetway extensions added, and to see these you need to add the textures for them, please follow these steps:

  • NOTE: If you have already done this first step with any of my other airports then this step is not necessary.
  • Browse to the FSX\Scenery\NAME\texture folder, go down the list until you see jfk_jetway.dds (day texture) and jfk_jetway_LM.dds (night texture).
  • "COPY" them from that folder and "PASTE" them into the Scenery\Global\Texture folder.

Second step:

Included are other types of jetway extensions: to see these you also need to add the textures for them, please follow these steps:

  • Browse to the FSX\Scenery\AUST\texture folder,Go down the list until you see "SYD_Jetway_light.dds" (day texture) and "SYD_Jetway_light_LM.dds" (night texture).
  • "COPY" them from that folder and "PASTE" them into the Scenery\Global\Texture folder.
  • Start up the Flight Sim and the changes will be present.

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE ONLY USE ONE RUNWAY OPERATION FILE AT ANY TIME. I.E. Make sure there is only "ONE" of the runway operation files and the YBBN_CVX.BGL file are in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder at any time, remove/delete any other YBBN.bgl to avoid incorrect parking and other airport conflicts.

If you have any AI Traffic Addons please make sure they have "NOT" installed another AFCAD for this airport as this will also cause a conflict.

PLEASE NOTE: When using ATIS with the YBBN_CW_RS.BGL file you will hear the fake runways as well as the airport runways, this is the method used in activating non parallel runways and should be ignored or if preferred use the version YBBN_RS.BGL.

To Uninstall:

  • Delete/remove the BGL files and the default airport will then be active.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D AFCAD file
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place AFCAD file

AFCAD files (AF2_*.bgl or AFX_*.bgl) go into FSX\Addon Scenery\Scenery\ or a dedicated AFCAD folder you create.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
