Douglas DC-3 model update for FS2004 removes the default virtual cockpit, clearing the way for custom 2D panels and cleaner external and internal view setups. The revised .mdl keeps the classic aircraft intact while giving simmers more control over cockpit presentation and camera layouts.
Updated .mdl file to remove the virtual cockpit from the default DC3. This effectively allows the user to add their own 2D panel and views. By Clive Ryan.

For those of you who hate Virtual cockpits as I do, I have modified the FS9 default Douglas DC3 .mdl file to remove the Virtual cockpit. You can now add any suitable DC3 panel to this aircraft, including 2D views without the ugly Virtual cockpit intruding.
Be sure to make a backup of your existing .mdl file for in the event that you may wish to change back again to the default setup.
Enjoy!

Please excuse my insistence, but in that way we can add views of the passenger cabin interior, seats, windows with views to the outside, and see the real wings of the aircraft.
Again—thank you.
This has been the best I could find. At last I have been able to install a real cockpit in the airplane I appreciate the most.
I wish you could do the same with the Curtiss C-46 ones, for example GA_C46_1 Aerocondor and others, and get rid of those very ugly cockpits. They are very good and excellent airplanes, but with those cockpits you don't feel like downloading them. Congratulations.
I download photos of DC3 cockpits with and without pilots, and with an old editor I add the gauges that allow me to make my flights with those beautiful airplanes feel real.
I have been a regular follower of your page - I am a lover of the Douglas DC3 and Curtiss C46 - I have found a file in which it is possible to remove that very nasty virtual cockpit from the Douglas Dc3 and place one to my liking. I build some original photos of the cabins and with a little program but I am old, I use the most important instruments and I like the fact that I fly a real DC3, while I ride the pilots, view of the wings from the inside, cabin passenger, etc .. I would like to know if it is possible that the person who made that file, do so with the Curtiss C46 cabin and other models of piston motors. How to contact Mr. Clive Ryan to congratulate him since he was the one who mounted the file. At the same time tell those who make the models of the Cessna, Piper, etc. Do not put them in such unpleasant cabins. I congratulate you.
