This repaint for Microsoft Flight Simulator X brings the Austrian Government’s Douglas DC-2 A-500 livery to your virtual hangar. It highlights a historically significant aircraft delivered in 1934 via Fokker, and showcases distinctive markings that reflect the era’s unique design language. The files here only include the repaint; you will need the payware Douglas DC-2 package developed by the "Uiver Team X," with proceeds supporting the Aviodrome museum in the Netherlands. Textures in this add-on were created by Tim Scharnhop, and other contributions within the DC-2 package come from authors like Jan Visser, Rob Cappers, and more.

Background on the Douglas DC-2 and Its Austrian Connection

The Douglas DC-2 represents an advancement in early commercial aviation, featuring a streamlined fuselage and robust twin-engine layout. Produced in the mid-1930s, it served both civilian and government entities for passenger transport and inspection flights. In Austria, the government-operated DC-2 A-500 demonstrated the type’s versatility by performing various official duties. Originally flown under MSN 1320, it arrived in the autumn of 1934 and became a notable part of Austria’s aeronautical heritage. The depiction in this repaint captures the classic exterior while preserving period-authentic finishes.
