Expert Overview

This enhanced recreation of Linden Airport (KLDJ) in MSFS 2020 faithfully updates the default scenery, providing a more realistic environment briskly set against the NYC skyline. From reworked airport layouts and missing perimeter fencing to additional ground vehicles and improved surroundings, this freeware mod offers a visually captivating flight experience that general aviation fans and helicopter trainees will appreciate.

Developed by the talented “demonicdave” and still in progress, the add-on continues to receive refinements based on community feedback. In my own testing, I found it significantly improves immersion when flying short hops from Newark or exploring local airspace, making it a worthy upgrade for those seeking a detailed and engaging airport environment.

A freeware recreation of Linden Airport (KLDJ) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release by the developer who goes by the name of "demonicdave".

Linden (KLDJ) scenery displayed in MSFS 2020.?This mod is a modification of the default Linden Airport already available in the simulator to bring it up to date and correct any issues present in the Microsoft default.

The scenery reworks most of the airport including the addition of the surrounding perimeter fences along with the addition of extra vehicles and cars around the airfield to make it appear more realistic and true to its real-world counterpart.

The developer has noted that this is a WIP (work in progress) so we can expect further updates and releases for this mod.

The description provided by the developer;

In the shadows of the NYC skyline, you will find KLDJ-Linden Airport, a small general aviation field just southeast of Newark Airport and a short hop from NYC, it is home to some small commercial operations, fight schools, and a helicopter training facility.

I have reworked most of the airport scenery using available scenery items in MSFS 2020, added missing perimeter fencing, vehicles such as cars and trucks parked in the area.

This is a work in progress, you may even notice some ongoing construction.

I am still trying to figure out how to render scenery properly in Blender to customize scenery, I am willing to learn if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

How to install this mod

MSFS scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Locate your MSFS Community folder

All MSFS add-ons live in the Community folder. Microsoft Store / Game Pass version: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\. Steam version: %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community\. Tip: enable Developer Mode in MSFS to see your exact Community folder path.
  3. Copy the scenery package into Community

Drag the extracted scenery folder into your Community folder. Photogrammetry and large mesh packs can be 1GB+ — ensure you have disk space.
  4. Restart MSFS

Close MSFS completely and relaunch. The new content appears in the Content Manager, on the World Map, or in the aircraft/livery selector.
  5. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
