A huge pack of scenery containing over 80 small bush airports and airstrips inside the Highland Papua mountain region, Indonesia.  A drop-in for the Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release.  This pack contains replacement and updated versions of the Microsoft default which are much more accurate and true-to-life.

Aircraft landing at one of the airfields included within the scenery pack after installing in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The developer has spent a lot of effort ensuring these strips are accurate by obtaining data from multiple sources such as Google Earth and Our Airports.

The default Microsoft scenery offerings for this region were poor and inaccurate (as likely generated by AI) but this pack brings the region up to date with real-world data which has all been verified and adjusted by hand.

As a bonus, 20 of the included airstrips were not even available or placed in the default MSFS install.  These missing airstrips have been included in this pack.

Developer's description

v2.0 Major update: 88 airstrips have been updated using a custom object library, called pbk-huts-n-stuff, which is included in the download, 20 of the airstrips are not included in the flight sim. The runways have been matched to the google earth terrain maps where possible.

Background:

The Highland Papua mountain region is on the island of New Guinea to the West of the Indonesia and Papua New Guinea border. The current MSFS support in this region is marginal, to say the least; multiple airstrips are incorrectly named, a lot of them have duplicated names and even more of them are just fugly. Type 'Ubrub' into the World map search to see how bad it is in the default.

I've been using Google Earth and https://www.ourairports.com as reference sources to correct the names and locations of the airstrips.

A few notes:

NOTE: this project is not compatible with the old Kronsky mod. I've reached out to the developer but I'm not getting a response and based on the lack of updates I suspect the package has been abandoned.

If you spot any errors please let me know in the discord channel I've just set up.

FWIW I recommend using Addon linker and dropping all of the scenery folders into a top-level folder called whatever you want, my master folder is called Highland Papua. Using the Addon linker will let you turn the scenery on/off easily so it can be disabled when you are not flying in the region and it will make updating much easier,

To update to the latest downloaded version I would strongly recommend deleting all of the existing folders and replacing them with the folders in the download. This will keep you up to date and avoid any clashes with any older versions I might have renamed or deleted.

You will find that some of the airports appear to be incorrectly named on the World map, that is an MSFS bug that has locked the airport name and ICAO code and even deleting the airport in my replacement airport doesn't change the name. LittleNavMap, if you use it, does show the corrected name.

To navigate to any of the airstrips please use the ICAO code and not the airstrip name.

Included in the download is an LNM user-point CSV file that you can add to LNM to show each location. Please backup your LNM database first for safety and delete any of the original Highland Papua airstrip entries to avoid duplication.

Installation

Simply extract the downloaded archive and copy/move all of the folders inside the Scenery folder into your MSFS community folder.
