This freeware package provides a detailed repaint of the Mooney Acclaim Type S N190TN for the default Microsoft Flight Simulator X Mooney Bravo G1000 variant. It includes an array of high-resolution DDS textures that accurately capture the real-world aircraft’s markings and aesthetic features. These new surfaces, designed by Zane Gard, Jr., come bundled with optional camera viewpoints, minor panel adjustments, and performance tweaks to better replicate Type S climb and cruise behavior. A thank you goes out to William Ortis for his assistance during the development of this repaint.
Key Visual Details and Real-World Relevance
The Mooney Acclaim Type S is widely recognized for its streamlined airframe, which is configured to enhance speed and altitude performance. This specific N190TN variant, reflecting the real-world aircraft’s distinctive paintwork, introduces a fresh look to your simulator flights without altering essential cockpit layouts. Meanwhile, the integrated G1000 avionics suite in the sim-based Mooney Bravo elevates situational awareness through its digital displays, adding a modern dimension to both IFR and VFR operations.

Performance Characteristics
In reality, the Mooney Acclaim Type S is driven by a 280 horsepower engine that can sustain remarkable speed up to 25,000 ft. These enhancements in the repaint package aim to encapsulate that same sense of agility within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The refined aircraft.cfg entries, if used, simulate the noted top cruise velocity of approximately 242 KTAS while preserving consistent climb rates. This adjustment ensures that virtual pilots can experience the hallmark pace for which Mooney aircraft are known.
Installation Steps
- Retrieve the texture.N190TN folder and place it into the “Mooney_Bravo” directory, located in FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes.
- Use a text editor such as Windows Notepad to open the aircraft.cfg file.
- Scroll to the bottom of the existing [fltsim.X] sections and copy the new entry below, pasting it under the last configured aircraft block. Make sure you adjust “[fltsim.XX]” to the next available number.

description="Mooneys are built to go fast. A focus on speed seems natural for a company that at one time offered a plane powered by a Porsche engine. Although the partnership with the Germans didn't last, Mooney's commitment to speed certainly has. In keeping with this idea, Mooney has experimented with a number of 'big engine' models. The Acclaim Type S is Mooney's fastest. With 280 hp all the way to 25,000 ft, the Acclaim Type S can attain speeds up to 242 KTAS, making it the fastest single-engine airplane currently produced."

When you complete these steps, the newly repainted N190TN variant will be available in your aircraft selection menu, equipped with a more representative performance envelope and visual fidelity.

Base Model Requirements
This repaint does not include the original aircraft model, which is freeware and can be found in the Fly Away Simulation library. Ensure you have already installed the default Mooney Bravo G1000 to apply this texture set successfully. This approach keeps file size practical and respects the work of the aircraft’s original developers.
Created by Zane Gard, Jr. and influenced by firsthand experience with the genuine N178TN Acclaim. Combined efforts with William Ortis resulted in an authentic, high-quality texture pack symbolizing the exceptional speed and engineering from Mooney’s craft.
