Cessna 182 Skylane Update. This is an update for FSX Acceleration of the Cessna 182 from FS2004. The author has updated the flight dynamics and fixed the regular and IFR panel backgrounds and changed a few gauges. A classic example of keeping it simple is never stupid. You need the original aircraft for this update to work. By Bob Chicilo.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. After backing up your air and aircraft.cfg files, replace them with the ones in this update. Copy the pictures to the aircraft folder. Back up both the regular and IFR panel folders and replace them with the ones in this update.

If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the default aircraft panel folders that have them to the main FS gauges folder. For some the .cab files will be .zip files as .cab files are a type of .zip file.

See [reference speeds] in the aircraft.cfg file for operating speeds.

Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

Can anybody tell me where I can get the original model by Bob Chicilo to use this update?
    Thank you.

This update makes the 182 fly really well. I belonged to a flying club that had a 182 and this update brought back memories of the real airplane. Can not say enough about how good this is. We also had a 172 and a 182 does not feel like a 172. Big engine and lots of power required constant trim unless flying the 182 was to be your upper body workout. Thank you, great work.
