This modification offers a refined texture set that eliminates the fuzzy exterior seen on the default Beech Baron 58 within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This replacement addresses the low-resolution look that sometimes occurs, providing a sharper finish across the fuselage and other key airframe sections. By integrating these revised textures, sim pilots can enjoy a cleaner visual presentation of this classic twin-engine piston design. The updated files are credited to Paul Craig, who meticulously prepared them to enhance the Beechcraft Baron’s in-simulator appearance.
Why the Beech Baron 58 Benefits from Refined Textures
The Baron 58 is part of Beechcraft’s prominent twin-piston family. It has been widely praised for its balanced performance and dependable handling characteristics. However, the original simulator version tends to produce blurred surfaces on certain textures, reducing immersion for those who prioritize crisp visuals. This mod corrects these areas by supplying new texture files that preserve detail at various zoom levels, ensuring the aircraft’s lines and detailing remain distinct.
Key Adjustments in This Fix
- Enhanced clarity: Texture mapping is improved to remove glitchy or indistinct paint regions.
- Optimized resolution: Files incorporate higher-resolution images for a more striking exterior.
- Preserved performance: Despite refined textures, performance remains stable in FSX.
Implementation Steps
- Create backups: Locate the Beech Baron 58 folder (commonly found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\beech_baron_58) and save copies of your current texture files for safekeeping.
- Extract the fix: Decompress the provided ZIP package into a temporary workspace.
- Texture file replacement: Under
Texture 1
, copy the “Beech_Baron_58_T.dds” file and move it into the aircraft’sTexture.1
folder, confirming overwrites. Repeat this step withTexture 2
andTexture 3
folders, each time placing the corresponding file intoTexture.2
orTexture.3
.
After completing these procedures, the Baron 58’s exterior should exhibit a much clearer surface during flights.
Important Note from the Developer
This release, developed by Paul Craig, is offered as-is. Use the texture changes at your own discretion, since results can vary depending on system configurations. The author assumes no responsibility for any complications that may arise from installing or using these files. Nevertheless, they were tested in a standard FSX environment without issues.
By applying these updated textures, enthusiasts can fully appreciate the aerodynamic form and comprehensive features of the Beech Baron 58 without distracting blurs. Paul Craig hopes this fix brings a more engaging and visually pleasing experience to fellow pilots within the simulator.

I had become very frustrated with the FSX Beech-Craft Baron 58. It is my favorite plane. The virtual cockpit is very well done. My issue was the shabby blurred color textures on the exterior. Your fix was a miracle and the colors are Great!!! Thank You!!
