FSX Jacksonville Naval Air Station Scenery

Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Florida (FL). This is an enhanced version of Jacksonville NAS (KNIP) for FSX with Acceleration running in "Preview DirectX 10" mode. By Dan Mesmer. (See also KNIP_ENHANCED_UPDATE_1.ZIP)

1. Reworked part of the riverfront--including terrain and textures.
2. Added wharf and a set of steps.
3. Changed apron surfaces to concrete and enlarged some of the aprons.
4. Removed invisible crash box from one of the aprons.
5. Moved all taxi signs into correct position.
6. Removed parking codes from parking spaces that had them.
7. Added fences to much of the perimeter.
8. Replaced one of the hangars with a more appropriate model.
9. Provided additional lighting.
10. Added vehicles to the fire station and to a few other airport locations.
11. Moved the water tower and added the second water tower.
12. Removed conflicts between buildings and aircraft parking spaces without deleting any of the extensive parking.
13. Repositioned helipads to avoid conflicts with other traffic.
14. Changed density at which all buildings appear to "normal" or higher.
15. Added the control tower.

Tested and developed for FSX Deluxe with Acceleration Expansion Pack running with "Preview DirectX 10" enabled.

Installation:

Copy all of the files in the "Texture" folder (but not the "Texture" folder, itself) to the main FSX "Texture" folder. There is no need to overwrite any files that are found to already exist within the FSX "Texture" folder. Complete the installation as shown below.

TRAFFIC X USERS

All Traffic X users should navigate to the following folder:

...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\JustFlight\TrafficX\AirportFacilities\Scenery

In the above folder, rename AF2_KNIP.bgl to AF2_KNIPbgl.bak

There are two methods to complete the installation for Traffic X users. One method is to use the procedure shown below for "NON-TRAFFIC X USERS," thereby adding "KNIP Enhanced" to the FSX Scenery Library. The other method is this:

Within the "KNIP Enhanced" folder is a "Scenery" subfolder. Copy all files within this "Scenery" subfolder (but not the "Scenery" subfolder, itself), and paste the files into:

...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\JustFlight\TrafficX\AirportFacilities\Scenery

NON-TRAFFIC X USERS

1. Copy the "KNIP Enhanced" folder (including the folder, itself) to the FSX "Addon Scenery" folder.

2. In FSX, go to "Settings," and under "Other settings," click the "Scenery Library" button.

3. On the "Settings - Scenery Library" window, click the "Add Area" button.

4. Navigate to the "Addon Scenery" folder, and then double-click on the folder to open it.

5. Click once on "KNIP Enhanced," and click the "OK" button.

6. Clicking the "OK" button above has brought you back to the "Settings - Scenery Library" window. Under "Available scenery areas," "KNIP Enhanced" will appear at the top of the list. Be sure "Enabled" is checked, then click the "OK" button.
