Presented here is NAS Argentia, a former base of the United States Navy that operated from 1941-1994. It was established in the community of Argentia in what was then the Dominion of Newfoundland. This scenery package was designed and built as best as could be portrayed of the air station as it last appeared before being closed down by BRAC in 1994. Included is both the airfield as well as associated scenery. By Marshall Carter.
Hello and thank you for downloading my scenery for NAS Argentia. Argentia is a much lesser known air station that was formally closed by the US Navy in 1994. The history of the site dates back to early 1941. When closed in 1994, Argentia had some of the most state of the art and nicest facilities of any Naval Station (for ships and aircraft ops) in the world. After the departure of the Navy, virtually all the buildings came down, and as a result there is very little evidence that buildings were ever there.
This is version 1.0 of NAS Argentia and it is not modeled after any particular time period. It was incredibly difficult to find images of the base with buildings erected, so building types and locations are approximate, but seem to be fairly accurate. Unless there is a serious flaw, I do not plan to do a follow up to this scenery. If you find any problems, or uncover any information about NAS Argentia, I would appreciate you sending me an email.
So have fun!
