Find why your FS2004 aircraft keeps banking right and fix joystick drift, duplicate axes, trim, rudder, autopilot and add-on flight-model faults.
In FS2004, a constant right bank is usually caused by an off-centre aileron axis, poor joystick calibration, or the same axis being assigned to two controllers. Centre and calibrate the controls, remove duplicate aileron assignments, and add a small null zone. If only one aircraft is affected, check its trim, fuel balance and flight model.
How do I stop an FS2004 aircraft banking right?
The quickest method is to separate controller input from aircraft-specific causes.
- Run a controlled test. Start a new flight with the default Cessna 172, calm weather and the autopilot disengaged. Establish level flight at a safe altitude. This removes saved-flight settings, unusual weather and most add-on variables.
- Disable controller input temporarily. Use FS2004's joystick enable or disable control, or close the simulator, disconnect the controllers and restart it. If the right bank stops, a controller, calibration fault or axis assignment is responsible.
- Inspect every connected device. In the control assignments, select each yoke, joystick, gamepad, throttle and pedal set in turn. Keep

Calibrate the device in Windows first, then adjust its FS2004 sensitivity and null zone. Move the axis fully left and right several times and release it; the test indicator should return to the same centre position. - Add only enough null zone to stop drift. A small dead zone is appropriate when the centre reading fluctuates slightly. A large one masks a worn potentiometer and also makes precise control around neutral difficult.
- Neutralise trim and keyboard input. Invoke the assigned command to centre the ailerons and rudder, then return aileron and rudder trim to neutral. Saved flights can retain trim, autopilot and fuel states that make the problem reappear.
- Check the rudder axis. Constant rudder input produces yaw followed by secondary roll, which can look like an aileron fault. Why does only one FS2004 aircraft bank right?
If the default Cessna flies normally, the affected add-on aircraft or its saved state is the likely cause.
Set aileron and rudder trim to neutral, balance the fuel between left and right tanks, and inspect payload stations for a large lateral imbalance. In a multi-engined aircraft, confirm that the throttles, propeller controls and engine outputs match.
If the problem survives a fresh flight with balanced loading, restore the add-on's original aircraft.cfg and flight-model files or reinstall it from a clean copy. Do not start by changing aerodynamic coefficients: that can conceal a controller fault and create new handling problems. A custom panel gauge or autopilot can also command trim, so compare the aircraft with its standard panel if the package provides one.
Can propeller torque cause a right bank?
Normal propeller effects in the stock single-engined aircraft are usually strongest as a left-turning tendency at high power and low airspeed, not a persistent right bank in every phase of flight.
A right bank can still appear if the pilot is applying too much opposite rudder, the rudder axis is reversed, or an add-on models an engine or propeller rotating in the opposite direction. Counter-rotating or failed engines can also produce asymmetric thrust. Reduce power during the test: controller drift tends to remain, while power-related effects change noticeably.
Is the aircraft banking or merely turning right?
Banking means the wings and horizon are visibly tilted; turning or veering can happen mainly through yaw while the wings remain nearly level.
