This freeware release delivers a meticulously crafted rendition of the Boeing 767-300 in Garuda colors, leased from Britannia. Created by iFDG and repainted by Ben Jones, it comes complete with a full package ready for immediate installation in FS2004, bringing authentic systems and visuals to your virtual flight environment.
Key Aspects of This 767-300 Model
This Boeing 767-300 model uses Gmax (a 3D modeling tool) to offer several detailed elements, including:
- Precisely animated surfaces (rudder, ailerons, and spoilers)
- Operational thrust reversers designed for more realistic runway braking
- Wing flex, incorporating realistic structural adjustments during flight
- Rolling wheels and compressing gear assembly for ground maneuvers
- Reflective exterior textures yielding dynamic shine under varying light conditions
- Doors and hatches that open to simulate ground crew activities
- A fully modeled 3D flight attendant figure in the cabin area
Technical Highlights
The 767 series is well-known for its balance of capacity and range. Being placed between Boeing’s 757 narrow-body airliner and the larger 777 twin-aisle aircraft, the 767-300 variant provides airlines with:
- Improved operational efficiency from twin-engined architecture
- Advanced flight deck electronics, fully digitized for better crew awareness
- Optimized aerodynamics for enhanced long-haul performance
- Freighter derivatives (based on the 767-300ER) that integrate the same avionics and structural advancements
Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier of Indonesia, operated a variety of airplane types to expand capacity on busy routes. The leased arrangement from Britannia facilitated additional passenger seating where demand was high. This repaint showcases that unique partnership in simulation form.
Installation Steps
Unofficial Repaints: For unofficial textures or special liveries, unzip the content directly into your FS2002 or FS2004 “aircraft” directory. The structure is typically self-contained, so just extract and load the simulator to access the new aircraft variant.
Official Paints: For liveries officially provided by iFDG, run the supplied autoinstaller. This automation ensures all necessary files are placed where they belong, making the process efficient in practically any Windows-based setup.
About the 767 Family
Boeing’s 767 fleet consists of both passenger and cargo variants. Core offerings include:
- 767-200ER
- Extended Range version of the shorter fuselage, popular for transcontinental flights.
- 767-300ER
- The stretched fuselage aircraft, valued for additional passenger and cargo volume.
- 767-400ER
- Another extended-platform derivative aimed at long-range routes with higher capacity.
- 767 Freighter
- Built around the 767-300ER platform to provide freight operators with modern avionics and low-noise capabilities.
Repainting Guidelines
iFDG invites simmers to modify the liveries on this aircraft, though they request adherence to specific conditions:
- Inform iFDG about the particular livery and distribution plan for your repaint.
- Generating profit from a repaint is not permitted.
- All original documentation (including this file) must remain intact.
- Respect the copyright of iFDG and any contributing painter.
- Obtain permission from any repaint creator before altering or using their textures.
- For virtual airline liveries, include the VA’s website information when posting on the iFDG forum.
Contributors and Acknowledgments
This project was completed thanks to the expertise of several team members and advisors:
- iFDG for the original model and continuous development
- Ben Jones for this dedicated Garuda (Britannia Lease) repaint
- Robert Versluys for FDE and detailed Gmax insights
- Erez Werber and Udo Lemmob for supporting Gmax modeling processes
All individuals above have contributed essential knowledge that refined the aircraft’s realism and visual appeal. Enjoy exploring the skies with this Boeing 767-300 in your simulator.
