Experience a distinctive Boeing 737-400 sporting Southwest Airlines’ celebrated “Shamu” scheme, meticulously crafted by Tony Potter. This repaint pays homage to the vivid canyon blue palette and SeaWorld branding, capturing all the unique details seen on the real-life counterpart. Designed exclusively for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, it uses the default 737-400 model as its base (not included). You will need to acquire that separately in the Fly Away Simulation library before adding this specialized livery.

Highlighting the Unique Shamu Livery

The renowned “Shamu” theme comes from Southwest Airlines’ partnership with SeaWorld, featuring graceful orca-inspired detailing along the fuselage. The vibrant blue background underscores Southwest’s long tradition of using striking color schemes, while the SeaWorld emblems pay tribute to marine life. This homage stands out on the classic Boeing 737-400, a variation of the Boeing 737 family originally known for its efficient short- to medium-range capabilities.

Livery Specifications and Repaint Details

This freeware repaint integrates flawlessly with the default aircraft framework in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. All external Artwork—such as the famous black and white near the tail—replicates the real special edition jets. Created by Tony Potter, this texture set offers crisp details, balanced colors, and accurate markings to reflect Southwest Airlines’ actual livery during its SeaWorld collaboration.

Installation Instructions

  1. Unpack the downloaded package into a temporary folder on your system.
  2. Move the enclosed Texture.Shamu1 folder to your fs2004/aircraft/b737_400 directory.
  3. Locate the aircraft.cfg file in that same b737_400 folder. Identify the final [fltsim.#] entry (just above the [General] section), copy the snippet below, and replace “x” with the next sequential number.
  4. Save the changes to your aircraft.cfg.
  5. For authentic air traffic control calls, add “Southwest” to your existing airline.cfg or use a community add-on (like David Dossiere’s callsign update). This step ensures ATC recognizes you as “Southwest.”
  6. Launch your simulator and experience your new repaint in action.

description="One should hardly be surprised that the world's most prolific manufacturer of commercial aircraft is also the producer of the world's most popular jetliner. The 737 became the best-selling commercial jetliner worldwide when orders for it hit 1,831 in June 1987 (surpassing Boeing's own 727 as the previous champ). However, it wasn't always that way in the first few years of production, there were so few orders that Boeing considered canceling the program. They didn't, and the airplane has more than proven itself in over three decades of service."

Kindly remember that this download only supplies texture files. The base model is not part of this package and must be sourced from the Fly Away Simulation mod library. This ensures proper operation of the repaint within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Enjoy the iconic Southwest “Shamu” experience!
