Experience an updated KLM Royal Dutch Airlines DC-10-30 freeware package crafted by SGA and repainted by Frank Idone for Flight Simulator 2004. This version incorporates new aerodynamic refinements informed by a DC-10 pilot, along with distinctive “Dynamic Flexing Wings” that shift position based on airspeed, turbulence, and phase of flight.
Refined Engineering and Visual Details
Wing Flex Behavior
The highlight of this model is the advanced wing motion. In response to changing atmospheric conditions and structural stress, the wings will flex during liftoff rolls and gently oscillate if you encounter turbulence. This feature lends authenticity to the DC-10-30’s iconic tri-jet design, reflecting how the real aircraft’s immense wings respond to in-flight forces.
Enhanced Flight Model
Developed with input from an actual DC-10 pilot, the revised flight dynamics bring realistic handling to your simulator. Expect performance shifts like accurate climb rates and more faithful maneuvering at both high and low altitudes, further immersing you in the character of the long-range Series 30.

Distinctive DC-10-30 Characteristics
Compared to earlier versions, the Series 30 offers expanded fuel capacity, extra thrust, and a slightly wider wingspan, facilitating longer-haul operations. Many operators—including KLM, recognized for its deep-blue livery—embraced this variant for intercontinental routes. Nearly 206 aircraft of this type were produced, including various specialized editions, such as -30CF (Convertible Freighter) and the rare -30ER (Extended Range). The optional lower deck galley of previous models was frequently excluded to enlarge cargo holds, further enhancing route flexibility.
Installation Steps
- Unzip this add-on directly into your “aircraft” folder.
- Open the aircraft’s configuration file (aircraft.cfg) and insert or adjust the following entry. Replace “fltsim.X” with the correct sequential number. For instance, if your fourth DC-10 is labeled 3, then this one should become 4, and so forth.

description=Model by SGA, KLM repaint by Frank Idone. The Series 30 offered considerably improved payload and range capability with increased fuel capacity and thrust, which necessitated an increase of 10 feet in wingspan and the addition of a center main landing gear assembly. Most popular of all the variants, a total of 206 Series 30s were built, including 27 -30CFs, 4 extended range -30ERs, and 12 pure freighter -30Fs. Unlike the Series 10, most -30s were ordered without the optional lower deck galley to allow increased cargo capacity. First revenue flight for a Series 30ER was on December 15, 1972 with Swissair. The Series 30CF (Convertible Freighter) was first certified in March 1973 and placed into revenue service in April 1973.
