Overview

The Yakovlev-40, often abbreviated as “Yak-40,” was introduced as a small tri-engine jet designed for regional routes across the USSR, CIS nations, and beyond. Its compact size and rugged design allowed it to serve hard-to-reach airports with shorter runways. This particular Yak-40K version provided additional cargo capabilities, making it a versatile option for both passenger transport and freight operations.
