FSX Beriev Be-12 Chayka

An update to the Beriev BE12 by Vladimir Zhyhulskiy. Now includes the Beriev BE12 panel by Steve Boston, re-gauged with Russian gauges from Vladimir Zhyhulskiy's An-12, Brett Hosnin's 3MS Bison and Philippe Wallaert's An-124 panels. Also includes the water bombing fire fighter texture by Steve Boston and texture thumbnails for both textures. 2D panel only, no VC panel. By Michael E. Roberts.

PLEASE NOTE: Before doing anything with your flightsim files/folders it is always good to back things up FIRST. Even better is to have a complete FS backup - somewhere other than your usual hard drive i.e. DVD, removable or seperate drive, USB Stick etc.

These textures will definitely work on FS2002 and will almost certainly work on anything else that runs the original BE12. Please note that they are only about 95% accurate - the way the visual model is prevents any finer painting (you may also notice the VM has the elevators working in the wrong sense).

To install - first copy the root files (aircraft.cfg and Be12zh.air) and paste into your BE12 folder - and of course allow them to overwrite. (You should now get better 'sit' on land and in water, more realistic wash, true turboprop engines and realistic handling.)

Also copy the file fx_WATER_DROP the two effects files fx_KM etc.into your effects folder. Finally copy the folder 'texture.ff' into your BE12 folder. You should now be able to choose the original 'RED 30' or my BE 12p-200. You should also be able to drop water using key 'I'

NOTE In case your version of flight simulator does not 'like' my revised aircraft.cfg file (for example - sometimes FS2002 aircraft fly badly in FS2004), you can still install these textures - but with a little more work. (The easiest way would be to just rename my 'texture.ff' folder to 'texture' and simply copy it in place of the original - you may want just this one texture set anyway).

For the choice of both textures though, put back your original aircraft.cfg and .air files, then just copy and paste the following blocks of text (down to the line of dashes) at the beginning of your aircraft.cfg file. It should now show [fltsim.0] plus a block and [fltsim.1] (The original [fltsim.0] etc will now be after the line of dashes). Carefully delete this and you now should have both textures available.

That will allow selection of the alternative textures. To get the water bombing active you will also have to manually add this anywhere else in the file:

Obviously being a smoke effect you can use it by hitting the I key.
