Expert Overview

As a longtime flight simulation veteran, I’ve tested this scenery pack by developer risuali and can confirm it transforms Dubai into a captivating environment for Microsoft Flight Simulator enthusiasts. Over 250 buildings—featuring landmarks like Burj Khalifa, JW Marriott Marquis, and Burj Al Arab—are reworked with precise textures and daytime realism, delivering a more authentic Middle Eastern skyline. Jebel Ali Port also receives notable enhancements, bringing maritime detailing to life under varying lighting conditions.

Night lighting covers a portion of these structures, offering an enticing glimpse of Dubai’s iconic after-dark glow, though additional improvements are on the horizon. In my experience, this add-on is a must-have for any pilot eager to experience the grandeur of Dubai from the cockpit, whether cruising above Sheikh Zayed Road’s towering skyscrapers or exploring the improved landscape around Skydive Dubai Airport.

A large freeware scenery add-on pack put together by the developer who goes by the name of risuali bringing hundreds of buildings, objects, and landmarks in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to your copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release.

An overview of the city of Dubai after installing this scenery pack in MSFS (2020).This pack contains reworked/replaced versions of over 250 buildings along with landmarks, objects, and scenery for the city of Dubai and Jebel Ali Port.

The developer was not happy with the default rendition of Dubai within the sim so crafted this pack and shared it with the flight sim community.

Some of the landmarks/buildings included;

  • World Tallest and Second Tallest Hotels (The Gervora and the JW Marriot Marquis)
  • Stargate
  • Dubai Frame
  • Burj Al Arab
  • Jumeirah Beach Hotel
  • Burj Khalifa
  • Pretty much all of the main buildings along the famous Sheikh Zayed Road (E 11)
  • Reworked rendition of the port and boats in Jebel Ali Port
  • Hundreds more...

Night lighting and reflective glass textures were only completed for only around 30-40 of the buildings as there were "so many to do".

The scenery, as stated by the developer is much appreciated during daylight hours and nighttime textures could use an overhaul. This is an ongoing project and perhaps the developer will release an updated version bringing all of the buildings and objects with night lighting and textures.

The developer states;

It's a must-have if you ever plan to fly into Dubai. Skydive Dubai Airport Has also been reworked to fix the elevation issues it previously had.

How to install this mod

MSFS scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Locate your MSFS Community folder

    All MSFS add-ons live in the Community folder. Microsoft Store / Game Pass version: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\. Steam version: %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community\. Tip: enable Developer Mode in MSFS to see your exact Community folder path.
  3. Copy the scenery package into Community

    Drag the extracted scenery folder into your Community folder. Photogrammetry and large mesh packs can be 1GB+ — ensure you have disk space.
  4. Restart MSFS

    Close MSFS completely and relaunch. The new content appears in the Content Manager, on the World Map, or in the aircraft/livery selector.
  5. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
