Thomas Hudner AFB Scenery.
Thomas Hudner AFB is a fictitious Air Force Base located at Henderson Island, a member of the Pitcairn Islands in the pacific. Thomas Hudner was an American pilot in the Korean War. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions to try and save a fellow pilot after the other pilot crashed his F4U Corsair on a mountainside. Hudner crash-landed his plane at great risk to his own safety in order to try and save the other pilot, but the other pilot was stuck in his plane and died as a result.
Thomas Hudner AFB is located in a sheltered bay on the east side of the island. The airport features a 7500' x 120' paved runway, several hangars, barracks, and a fire dept. This airport also features a slightly steeper than normal approach path to add a little more margin to help prevent a controlled flight into the ocean or jungle due to being
to low on the approach path.
Installation:
1. Decide whether you want a sandy apron surrounding the airport on top of it’s artificial island or not. There is a picture included of the airport with the sandy apron, and a picture of the airport without the sandy apron. If you want the “Sandy Apron” version, use the files from the “KTH Airport (Sandy Apron)” folder. If you want the airport without the sandy apron, use the files from the “KTH Airport” file.
2. Copy all of the files from either KTH Airport or KTH Airport sandy apron into your Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. (If you have any other addon scenery installed, you are done! If not, then complete the last three steps.)
3. Start up FSX, click on the "Settings" tab on the blue bar on the left hand portion of the game screen.
4. Click on the "Scenery Library" button on the right hand side of the screen.
5. Once the Scenery Library pop up appears, make sure the Addon Scenery box is checked and then click OK.
6. To start a flight at Thomas Hudner AFB, go to “Free Flight”, and click Change under the “Current Location” box. Then, simply enter KTH into the “By Airport ID” box and you’re good to go!
OPTIONAL:
These files are non-essential and can be deleted from your Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder to improve frame rates if you are on a low-spec system:
KTH Launchpad.BGL (This adds a Delta V rocket and launch pad in the middle of the island)
KTH Ships.BGL (this adds a small container ship, some hovercrafts, and a small naval ship to the waters surrounding the island)
KTH Static Aircraft.BGL (this adds 2 B-52's, 2 737's, and 2 SR-71's to the ramp area and hangars of the airbase)
Scenery Settings (IMPORTANT):
For best results, ensure that you have these scenery settings set as follows:
Mesh Complexity: 92 (or 90 if 92 doesn’t work right)
Mesh Resolution: 5M
Texture Resolution: 1M
Troubleshooting:
For some odd reason, the island will by covered in sand textures and display no trees at certain scenery settings. To ensure that this will not happen, you should use the settings given above, as they fix the problem for me. Ashton and I have no idea what causes this and have tried to fix this several ways, but could not find a solution. If you think you might know how solve this problem, please email me. Also, for some reason, Ground Environment X causes the sand textures to show up as rain forest. This is purely a visual quirk and the airport will still work, but it will look odd.
Uninstalling:
1. Delete all of the files included in this package from your Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder and then restart FSX.

Great job on this! Works perfectly, also great static aircraft.
