FSX SP2 Compatible Engine Smoke Effect

Engine smoke effects tailored for the Jens B. Kristensen Boeing 247D add atmosphere with a choice of thin light trails or thicker, darker exhaust. Designed for FSX SP2 compatibility, it updates the smoke system entries and effect files so the classic twin looks more alive in flight, especially during climbs and power changes.

INSTALLATION:

1.) For thicker smoke, copy and paste the enclosed "fx_smoke_f6" file into your FSX "Effects" folder. (It's probably there already).

2.) For thinner smoke, do the same except use the "fx_enginesmoke" file instead.

3.) Copy and paste the enclosed [SMOKESYSTEM] info. found below into your 247D "aircraft.cfg" file. I pasted mine at the bottom with good results. Then click 'file', then click 'save', of course.

4.) Press your "I" key while flying your Jens B. 247D in FSX and enjoy the smoke!

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
