FSX Default Boeing 747-400 Engine Smoke Effect

Boeing 747-400 engine smoke brings a more authentic, heavy-jet look to the default jumbo, with adjustable smoke points tied to the simulator’s smoke system and triggered in flight. Designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it adds the fx_smoke_f6 effect via a simple aircraft.cfg entry for consistent visuals from all four engines.

THANKS:

To the original author of the "fx_smoke_f6.fx" file,
whoever you are. And to Microsoft, for their
fun flying big fat four seven. I use this smoke in
Windows 7, 64 bit, FSX SP2 with no problems.

INSTALLATION: Simple!

1. Copy and paste the enclosed "fx_smoke_f6.fx" file
into your FSX "Effects" folder. (It's probably there
already, so look first).

2. Copy and paste all of the [SMOKESYSTEM] info.
below into your FSX Default 747-400 "aircraft.cfg"
file. I pasted mine between the [jet_engine]
section and the [autopilot] section with good results.

3. Press your "I" key while flying your 747-400
and enjoy your smoke!

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
