FSX Compatible F-86 Sabre Engine Smoke Effect

F-86 Sabre engine smoke comes alive with an alternate effect tuned for the Kirk Olsson FS2004 aircraft when flown in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The update replaces the smoke system entry and uses the included fx_smoke_f6 effect to deliver cleaner, more convincing exhaust visuals on command; requires the Sabre already installed.

After multiple requests, an alternative engine smoke effect for the FS2004 Kirk Olsson F-86 Sabre when used in FSX, any version of which you must have previously installed in FSX. Easy Installation. By Tom Tiedman.

Open your F-86 "aircraft.cfg" file, find the [SMOKESYSTEM] section, and delete it.
Copy and paste all of the [SMOKESYSTEM] info. below back into your F-86 "aircraft.cfg" file, replacing what you just deleted.
Copy and paste the enclosed "fx_smoke_f6.fx" file into your FSX "Effects" folder. (It's probably there already).
Press your "I" key (or not) while flying your F-86 and enjoy the smoke!

FSX / P3D add-on

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
