Repaint for RealAir's Spitfire Mk IX 2007 depicting the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Spitfire in its 2008 colors and squadron code of UF-Q. The aircraft flew in this scheme with 601 Squadron during 1944, flying its first operational mission from Westhampnett on 14 April 1944 as part of a "Rodeo" fighter sweep over occupied France. Depicts the Spitfire of the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which in 2008 wore the colours and squadron code of UF-Q, an aircraft flying in this scheme with 601 Squadron during 1944. Initially allocated to 443 ‘Hornet’ Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force -- which became part of 44 Canadian Wing commanded by Wing Commander J. E. ‘Johnny’ Johnson -- the aircraft was based at various locations on the South Coast of England. It flew its first operational mission from Westhampnett on 14 April 1944 as part of a ‘Rodeo’ fighter sweep over occupied France.

Rivet-counters will note that the model's canopy frame is painted silver rather than the green of the 2008 BBMF aircraft. In my view this h detracts from the aircraft's overall look and, lacking a photograph of the 1944 colours I've chosen to believe that the original aircraft had the silver/metal frame.

INSTALLATION

1. Extract/unzip the SPITUPQ.ZIP file into a temporary folder.

2. Move the folder TEXTURE.MK356 to the RealAir Spitfire IX 2007 folder (usually:"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\RealAir Spitfire IX 2007).

3. Copy the text between the asterisks below into the AIRCRAFT.CFG file in your RealAir Spitfire IX 2007 folder, at the end of the previous [fltsim.X] entries, replacing the 'X' in [fltsim.X] with the next sequential number.
