Immerse yourself in the cockpit of the North American T-28 Trojan with an authentic texture set depicting a T-28C assigned to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Quantico in 1974. This repaint, created by John Detrick, showcases the distinctive USMC markings and visual details from that era. Designed for the now freeware AlphaSim model, it elevates the aircraft’s appearance in Microsoft Flight Simulator X by accurately reflecting the vintage training platform used by the Marine Corps.

Historical Context of the T-28C

The T-28 Trojan, originally developed by North American Aviation, had its inaugural flight in the late 1940s as a successor to the renowned T-6 Texan. Many T-28 variants, including the C version, featured powerful radial engines (up to 1,425 horsepower) and proved indispensable in both U.S. Navy and Marine Corps flight training programs. By the time production ended in 1957, almost 2,000 airframes had been delivered, fulfilling various trainer and limited combat roles worldwide.

Repaint Highlights and Developer Credits

This freeware repaint set focuses on authenticity and attention to detail, preserving the retro look of a T-28C stationed at MCAS Quantico. Its markings reflect a typical 1974 appearance, complete with squadron stencils and high-visibility elements. John Detrick, who crafted these textures, has accurately captured the nuances of marine aviation heritage. Note that this package supplies paint files only and requires the base AlphaSim T-28 Trojan model, which you can find in the Fly Away Simulation mod library.
