This red-and-white Falco F.8L repaint depicts the Australian-registered VH-BDK variation of the venerable two-seat Italian design. Originally envisioned by the late Ing. Stelio Frati in the mid-1950s, the F.8L lineage gained worldwide recognition for its lightweight construction and aerodynamic elegance. Now, thanks to Tom Tiedman’s creative adaptation, virtual pilots flying in Microsoft Flight Simulator X can enjoy a distinct variant of the Laverda Super Falco F.8L Series IV featuring a high-gloss finish and vivid accents.
Key Details and Visual Highlights
The VH-BDK repaint stands out with its lively red fuselage and a crisp white trim line that highlights the aircraft’s sleek contours. Laverda’s Super Falco, manufactured under license following Aviamilano’s initial releases, benefits from a refined airframe and a potent 160 HP Lycoming powerplant (a marked improvement over the earlier 150 HP design). By blending a sporty exterior scheme and detailed markings, this red-and-white finish adds extra realism for enthusiasts who love flying classic single-engine setups.

Livery Addition Instructions
- Place the included texture.Red VH-BDK folder inside your main Falco F.8L directory. This suggests a quick copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop procedure.
- Open your aircraft’s aircraft.cfg file and insert the [fltsim.X] block, substituting “X” with the next integer in the repaint sequence. Afterward, save your changes.
- Locate this variant in the aircraft selection menu. It will be listed under “Laverda (Aviamilano).”
- For those using FSX smoke effects, swap the default FS2004 entries with the updated [SMOKESYSTEM] lines provided below. This ensures a correct single exhaust trail from the starboard side.
- Explore the crisp flight model and enjoy your journey in this distinctive Italian-built aircraft.

Description=Red VH-BDK repaint by Tom Tiedman. Designed by the late Ing. Stelio Frati the F.8 Falco first flew on 15 June, 1955. It was built by Aviamilano in two different series, the first series powered by a 140 HP and the second with a 150 HP Lycoming O-320-A. The manufacturing licence was then acquired by Aeromere S.p.A who produced a version named F.8L America basically similar to the series II. Further development of the basic design and the introduction of a 160 HP engine resulted in the current model the Super Falco manufactured by the Laverda S.p.A.

Base Model Information
This repaint package does not include the core aircraft model. You will need the freeware Massimo Taccoli Falco F.8L base (filename: FALCO_F8L_FSX.ZIP), which is accessible in the Fly Away Simulation library. Once the primary Falco package and this texture set are installed correctly, you can experience the upgraded Super Falco with maximum authenticity in your flight simulator environment.
Developed by Tom Tiedman, this adaptation stands apart with its visually inviting red tones and historically significant details. It merges the original airframe’s timeless style with a modern flair, delivering an immersive flight experience for sim pilots who appreciate classic aircraft design and precise performance characteristics. If you seek a refined representation of a timeless Stelio Frati concept, this repaint accurately embodies the essence of the real-world Laverda Super Falco F.8L while introducing you to the allure of Italian aviation heritage.
