152 Squadron RAF was not based at Sharjah, it was the resident communications Squadron in Bahrain having been formed from 1417 Flight in the late 1950s. My father was a member of 152 during two tours in Bahrain as well as being a member of the earlier 1417 Flight. As such he would regularly visit Sharjah, Muscat, Masirah, Buraimi, Salalah and all stations south of Bahrain. His most frequent aircraft was WV 700 which became known, unofficially, as his "personal" aircraft, sufficient for us to commission an oil painting of it for him which I now possess.
