Freeware Embraer E190 projects have been announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but there is no widely established, fully featured native E190 we can recommend as a dependable drop-in aircraft. Most free E190 downloads are for FSX or Prepar3D, are liveries requiring another model, or are unfinished community builds for PC.
Is there a complete freeware E190 for MSFS?
The practical answer is no if by complete you mean a stable, maintained E190 with its own virtual cockpit, systems, sounds and flight model. Experimental builds may exist, but an announcement, development repository or preview is not the same as a released aircraft.
A freeware aircraft does not need study-level systems to be complete. It should, however, include a flyable cockpit, an exterior model, gauges, flight dynamics and every dependency needed to appear in the aircraft selector. How can I identify a genuine MSFS E190 download?
A valid E190 package must name the exact simulator and state whether it is a complete aircraft or an add-on for another model.

- Check the simulator label. The listing should say MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 or both—not merely Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX or P3D.
- Confirm that it is a complete aircraft. Look for an included cockpit and flight model. A livery cannot create an E190 by itself.
- Read the dependency list. Some freeware files require another aircraft, edition entitlement or shared avionics package.
- Inspect a ZIP package. A conventional MSFS Community package normally has
manifest.jsonandlayout.jsonnear its package root. Extra nested folders are a common reason aircraft fail to appear. - Check release status. Treat development screenshots and planned features as unfinished until a usable build is actually supplied.
Can I install an FSX Embraer E190 in MSFS?
No—an FSX or Prepar3D E190 cannot be installed as a native Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft simply by copying it into the Community folder. The model, materials, gauges, cockpit interactions and flight configuration use different formats.
For example, our legacy FSX E-Jets package with a virtual cockpit is genuine freeware, but it is intended for FSX and compatible legacy environments. It is not an aircraft for MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024.
A mistake we see constantly is assuming that every download bearing the Microsoft Flight Simulator name works in the modern simulator. Check the product label before downloading; renaming folders or copying legacy files into Official will not convert them.
Will an MSFS 2020 E190 work in MSFS 2024?
An MSFS 2020 aircraft may work in MSFS 2024, but compatibility is not automatic. A package can appear in the aircraft selector while still having blank displays, failed cockpit interactions, missing sounds or incorrect systems.
Prefer an explicit MSFS 2024 compatibility statement from the aircraft creator. If none is supplied, regard the package as unverified and keep a clean copy so it can be removed easily. - PC: External freeware can be installed in the simulator's Community package location.
- Xbox Series X|S: Ordinary PC ZIP downloads cannot be sideloaded; the aircraft must be distributed through the simulator's supported in-sim system.
- PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro: The same restriction applies to MSFS 2024. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was never released on PlayStation.
Common E190 installation failures
- The aircraft does not appear: the package is for FSX/P3D, is buried one folder too deep, or lacks a required dependency.
- Only a livery appears: the download needs a separate base E190 that is not installed.
- The cockpit is missing or unusable: the file is probably an exterior model, AI aircraft, legacy conversion or unfinished build.
- Textures are pink or absent: texture files, material definitions or a required base package are missing.
- Displays remain blank: the aircraft's gauges may be incompatible with that simulator version or dependent on another package.
If flying the exact E190 matters more than cost, choose a maintained native package explicitly supporting your edition of MSFS. If freeware matters more than the precise type, a complete regional or narrow-body jet built for MSFS will usually provide a far better experience than an abandoned E190 conversion.
