This comprehensive package showcases a detailed simulation of a Korean Air Boeing 787-9 designed specifically for FSX. It integrates a carefully crafted exterior model, a realistic livery, and specialized Animated Ground Servicing (AGS) capabilities. Created by CamSim (model design and paint by Camil Valiquette), this freeware release merges fidelity and functionality for enthusiasts exploring modern long-haul operations under the Korean Air banner.
Model Overview
The Boeing 787-9 series (often called a “Dreamliner”) features efficient twin engines, composite materials, and long-range performance. In this v2 edition by CamSim, the developers have refined the aircraft design to provide an upgraded visual model that captures the sleek lines of the real-world airframe. Korean Air’s distinctive light-blue livery has been reproduced with precise detailing, reflecting the airline’s recognizable appearance.
In addition to its exterior artistry, the developers have incorporated enhancements to complement the Dreamliner’s capabilities. This release offers a complete aircraft package, eliminating the need for separate downloads when installing the base model. CamSim’s upgrades also optimize the ground handling animations through the AGS feature set.
Features & Enhancements
- Advanced Ground Servicing (AGS) tools that portray baggage loaders, catering trucks, and passenger bridges (where applicable).
- Accurate fuselage and wing modeling reflecting the real 787-9 design.
- Custom Korean Air paint scheme applied by Camil Valiquette, including revised textures for a more refined look.
- Operational animations connecting the aircraft to airport services, accessible through a dedicated command set.
- Night effects included via optional files for realistic evening and low-light environments.
Leveraging CamSim’s v2 revisions, this freeware add-on ensures smoother visual transitions and enhanced details around cabin doors, cargo hatches, and control surfaces. Likewise, the extra ground support details enrich immersion while operating at the gate.
Installation Steps
- Extract all files to your FSX “Airplanes” folder.
- If you do not already have a CamSim AGS aircraft installed, unzip the “Effects.zip” into the main FSX directory. These files will place the required night effects into the appropriate “Effects” folder.
Animation Controls
This package employs keyboard inputs to activate various ground service animations:
- Shift+E: Open or close the passenger entry doors.
- Shift+D: Operate the cargo doors.
- Shift+C: Deploy or retract ground service equipment.
Furthermore, it is crucial to map the following under “Options” in FSX:
- Wing Fold/Unfold to Shift+C
- Tail Hook Up/Down to Shift+D
Employing these commands allows for seamless integration of external activities, such as catering and baggage operations, resulting in a more interactive ground phase.
This freeware mod delivers a faithful representation of the Korean Air Dreamliner, complete with CamSim’s innovative improvements. Model design and paint by Camil Valiquette ensure a consistently high-quality experience, offering enthusiasts an engaging and immersive long-haul airliner for FSX.
