Install Logitech/Saitek Pro Flight panels in MSFS 2024, configure the correct plug-in, build aircraft profiles, and fix blank displays or dead controls.
On a Windows PC, install the compatible Logitech/Saitek panel driver and Microsoft Flight Simulator plug-in with MSFS 2024 closed, connect each panel by USB, then test it in a powered aircraft. Most Pro Flight panels communicate through the plug-in and SimConnect, not through ordinary assignments in Controls Options.
How to install Logitech/Saitek panels in MSFS 2024
The reliable order is software first, hardware second, followed by a test with a default aircraft.
- Identify each device. The Radio, Multi and Switch panels need panel-handling software. The Flight Instrument Panel needs its display and gauge software. Yokes, pedals and throttle quadrants are conventional controllers and are configured separately in MSFS.
- Close conflicting software. Exit MSFS 2024 and any old Saitek, Logitech or third-party panel utility. Do not let two programs control the same panel; duplicated handlers cause jumping values, repeated button presses and switches that immediately reverse themselves.
- Install the correct Windows package. Install the model-specific 64-bit driver and a Microsoft Flight Simulator-compatible plug-in or panel handler. Package names differ between older Saitek-branded hardware and later Logitech G releases. Avoid the software on an old installation disc if a newer compatible package is available.
- Keep it out of the Community folder. Panel drivers are external Windows software, not conventional MSFS aircraft or scenery add-ons. Do not copy their files into
Communityor point an installer at a random Microsoft Store or Steam package directory. - Connect one panel for the first test. Use a direct motherboard USB port initially. Once it works, multiple panels can be moved to a good powered USB hub; passive hubs and overloaded yoke USB ports are common causes of dark displays and intermittent disconnects.
- Start the panel handler and MSFS. Some packages register their utility to start with the simulator, while others must be opened manually. Run the utility and simulator under the same Windows privilege level.
- Load a simple powered aircraft. Test with a default aircraft in a ready-to-fly state, with its battery and avionics switched on. This separates a hardware problem from a complex add-on aircraft that uses custom autopilot or radio events.

Which software does each Pro Flight panel use?
The Radio, Multi and Switch panels normally use a simulator plug-in or mapping utility, while the Flight Instrument Panel has a separate display system.

Do the panels need bindings in MSFS Controls Options?
Usually not: the dedicated Pro Flight panels are driven by their external handler rather than ordinary MSFS control bindings.
A Radio, Multi or Switch panel may not appear as a fully configurable controller in Controls Options, even when it is working correctly. By contrast, a Logitech/Saitek yoke, throttle quadrant or rudder pedal set should appear there and needs its axes and buttons assigned in an aircraft control profile.
A mistake we see constantly is creating keyboard-style bindings for functions already controlled by the panel plug-in. That can send the same command twice. Remove duplicated assignments before blaming the hardware.
How do I configure panels for add-on aircraft?
Use the standard Logitech handler for default aircraft and add-ons that expose normal simulator events; use an aircraft-specific profile when an add-on relies on custom local variables, H events or its own control logic.
- Create a separate profile for each complex aircraft rather than altering one global profile.
- Map and test one function at a time, beginning with heading, altitude and autopilot master controls.
- Leave only one panel handler active for that aircraft.
- Check the physical Switch Panel positions before loading because battery, alternator and lighting switches may be synchronised immediately.
- Treat annunciators and gear lights as aircraft-state outputs. They may stay dark when electrical power is off or when the selected aircraft does not publish the expected state.

Do I need to install SimConnect for MSFS 2024?
No. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 includes SimConnect, so a normal local panel installation does not require an old standalone SimConnect download.
A plug-in written for MSFS 2020 may still connect because MSFS 2024 retains SimConnect, but installer detection and individual aircraft functions are not guaranteed. Why are my Logitech panels blank or not working?
A completely dead panel usually indicates a Windows, USB or panel-handler problem; a panel that works with a default aircraft but not an add-on usually indicates incompatible aircraft events.
- Check Windows detection. Confirm that the device appears in Windows before opening MSFS. If it does not, reconnect it directly, try another USB port and inspect the cable.
- Test one panel at a time. Disconnect other panels and high-draw USB devices. If the panel becomes stable, use a powered hub rather than continuing to overload one port.
- Confirm that the handler is running. A lit USB indicator does not prove the simulator plug-in has loaded. Open the panel utility manually and check whether it recognises the device.
- Match permission levels. Do not run MSFS as administrator while the panel utility runs as a normal user, or vice versa.
- Use a powered default aircraft. Turn on the battery and avionics. Some panel software and aircraft logic leave radio or autopilot displays dark in a cold-and-dark cockpit.
- Remove duplicate utilities. If values flicker, knobs skip or switches operate twice, disable every other program capable of handling that panel.
- Compare aircraft. If the panel works in a default aircraft, the USB connection, driver and SimConnect path are functioning. Build an aircraft-specific profile instead of repeatedly reinstalling the driver.
- Check USB power saving. A panel that works initially and drops out later may be affected by Windows power management. Disable power saving only for the affected USB hub or device rather than changing the whole system first.
Can Logitech/Saitek panels be installed on Xbox or PS5?
This installation process is for Windows PC only. Legacy Logitech/Saitek panels depend on Windows drivers and external simulator plug-ins, which cannot be installed on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5.
