Configure Saitek or Logitech flight controls in MSFS 2024: install drivers, bind axes, tune sensitivity and fix duplicate or ghost inputs.
To configure Saitek or Logitech flight controls in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PC, connect and verify each device in Windows, then select it under Settings > Controls. Create a custom preset, assign the primary axes, clear duplicate bindings, calibrate and tune sensitivity, then save a separate preset for each device.
Set up the hardware in Windows first
MSFS 2024 cannot configure a controller that Windows has not detected correctly. Connect the yoke, joystick, throttle and pedals before starting the simulator, preferably using direct motherboard USB ports while troubleshooting.
A throttle quadrant supplied with a Pro Flight Yoke normally connects to the yoke using its dedicated connector and appears as part of that yoke. A standalone USB quadrant and USB rudder pedals appear as separate devices, so each requires its own MSFS preset.
- Check every connection. Avoid passive hubs initially, especially if several illuminated Logitech devices are attached.
- Open the Windows controller test. Press Windows key and R, enter
joy.cpl, select each device and inspect its properties. - Move every axis through its full range. Confirm that the crosshairs, sliders and button indicators respond without sticking or flickering.
- Calibrate if necessary. Use the device's calibration facility where one is available, then repeat the test.
- Restart MSFS 2024. The simulator is less likely to miss a device if it was connected and working before launch.
Do Saitek and Logitech controls need drivers?
Basic yokes, quadrants and pedals often operate as standard Windows game controllers, but older Saitek hardware and programmable HOTAS units may need the correct Logitech driver package for reliable detection and all features.
Install a driver when the device is missing from joy.cpl, has unidentified controls or exposes fewer axes than expected. Avoid loading elaborate keyboard-emulation profiles until ordinary axis and button bindings work; those profiles can make one button trigger both a joystick command and a keyboard shortcut.

How do I bind Saitek or Logitech controls in MSFS 2024?
Create and edit a custom preset for each device rather than changing bindings indiscriminately across every controller.
- Open Controls. From MSFS 2024 Settings, enter the Controls screen and select the correct device.
- Create a custom preset. Duplicate a suitable default preset if one exists, or start with a new preset. Give it a recognisable name such as
Pro Flight Yoke - GA. - Show all available commands. A filter limited to assigned controls can hide the axis command you need.
- Assign the primary axes first. Select the command, scan for an input and move only the intended lever or control through a clear portion of its travel.
- Check for duplicate assignments. Search by input where available and remove unwanted commands attached to the same axis or button.
- Bind secondary controls. Add trim, flaps, brakes, landing gear, views and autopilot functions after the aircraft responds correctly to the main axes.
- Save every device preset. Repeat the process for the throttle and pedals if they appear as separate controller tiles.

Which axes should I assign?
Bind analogue controls to commands ending in Axis; directional commands are intended for buttons or keys and will produce abrupt full-scale movement.

Use the general throttle, propeller and mixture axes when one lever should operate all engines. Choose engine-specific axes when using a split quadrant for multi-engine aircraft.
How should sensitivity and dead zones be set?
Begin with a linear response and the smallest dead zone that prevents unwanted movement. Large dead zones and aggressive curves can hide faulty hardware while making precise approaches harder.
- Dead zone: Increase only until a noisy or off-centre axis becomes stable.
- Sensitivity curve: Reduce centre sensitivity if the aircraft feels excessively twitchy, particularly with a short joystick.
- Extremity or range: Adjust only when a physically healthy control cannot reach the full on-screen travel.
- Reverse axis: Enable this when the cockpit control moves in the opposite direction, or when toe brakes remain applied with your feet released.
Watch the input graph while moving the control slowly. Jumps, flickering or a signal that never settles indicate a Windows, USB or hardware problem rather than a sensitivity problem.
Why do the controls move twice, drift or trigger themselves?
Duplicate bindings are the most common cause of unexpected movement. MSFS may have assigned pitch, roll, rudder or throttle to the yoke, pedals, joystick, gamepad and keyboard at the same time.
- Inspect every connected device and clear unwanted flight-axis assignments.
- Remove a joystick twist-rudder binding when dedicated pedals are fitted.
- Check both the default and custom preset selected for each controller.
- Disable virtual-controller or remapping layers while diagnosing duplicate inputs.
- Use a blank Logitech programming profile if its software is also sending keyboard commands.
- Temporarily disable piloting assistance if the simulator appears to override valid input.
Maintained switches need special care. A physical switch that remains on can behave badly when assigned to a toggle command; use separate on/off or set commands where MSFS and the aircraft expose them. Toggle commands are usually better for momentary push-buttons.
Why are the Radio, Multi or Switch Panels missing?
Logitech and Saitek instrument panels are not configured like ordinary joystick axes. They may require panel software or a compatible plug-in to drive displays, LEDs and specialised switches.
If a Radio Panel remains blank or a Multi Panel works only partly, follow our panel installation and plug-in checks for MSFS 2024. Keep panel commands separate from yoke and throttle bindings to avoid duplicated gear, flap or autopilot inputs.
Can these controls be configured on Xbox or PlayStation?
Only hardware explicitly supported by the console can be configured there. A Saitek or Logitech USB controller working on Windows does not automatically make it compatible with Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro.
Windows drivers and joy.cpl apply only to PC. If the console does not recognise the controller at system level, MSFS 2024 cannot add compatibility through a control preset; use a model documented for that console instead.
