How do I set up Logitech/Saitek Flight Panels in MSFS 2024?

Adam McEnroe
In short

Install and configure Logitech/Saitek Flight Panels in MSFS 2024, fix blank displays and USB faults, and make add-on aircraft respond correctly.

On Windows PC, install the Logitech Flight Panels driver and Microsoft Flight Simulator plug-in, connect the panels, verify them in the supplied test utility, then start MSFS 2024 and test with a default aircraft. Complex add-on aircraft often need an aircraft-specific profile because their switches and displays use custom events rather than standard SimConnect controls.

This process applies to the older Saitek-branded hardware as well as the equivalent Logitech panels. The Radio, Multi, Switch and Flight Instrument Panels require companion software; a yoke, throttle quadrant or rudder pedals are configured differently as ordinary flight controls.

Which software does each Logitech Flight Panel need?

The required software depends on whether the device sends switches or must also drive its own display.

How do I install Saitek or Logitech panels in MSFS 2024?

  1. Close MSFS and existing panel utilities. If both legacy Saitek software and a newer Logitech package are installed, choose one software stack. Two panel managers can produce duplicate commands or prevent either one from opening the device.
  2. Install the package for the exact panel. Use the appropriate 64-bit Windows driver and an MSFS-compatible plug-in. The Flight Instrument Panel may require a separate display or gauge package. Follow the installer’s prompt about when to connect the USB cable.
  3. Check any simulator module location carefully. Windows drivers do not belong in the Community folder. Only select a Packages or Community location when the companion software specifically includes an MSFS module; our explanation of finding the active MSFS 2024 Packages folders helps when an installer asks for one.
  4. Restart Windows and connect one panel at a time. Begin with a direct motherboard USB port. For several panels or Flight Instrument Panels, use a powered USB hub rather than relying on an unpowered hub.
  5. Run the supplied panel test. Check every knob, switch, LED and display before opening the simulator. A panel that fails here has a Windows, driver, cable or USB-power problem rather than an MSFS configuration fault.
  6. Test with a default aircraft. Start the panel helper if it does not launch automatically, open MSFS 2024 and power the aircraft’s battery and avionics. A default Cessna 172 is useful for radios and basic autopilot functions; use a default retractable-gear aircraft when checking the Switch Panel’s gear lever and indicator lights.

A package labelled for MSFS 2020 may connect to MSFS 2024 through SimConnect, but that does not guarantee correct installation or complete panel behaviour. Do not rename simulator folders or copy driver files into Community to force an old installer. Prefer a build that recognises MSFS 2024, or use a compatible panel interface that can create aircraft profiles.

Why do the panels not appear in MSFS 2024 Controls Options?

The Radio, Multi, Switch and Instrument Panels are normally read by their companion application, not configured as ordinary MSFS controllers. The helper converts panel input into simulator events and sends display data back to the hardware.

The stock plug-in generally provides fixed functions rather than a full in-game binding page. Do not assign the same command in MSFS and a panel utility, as one knob movement may then send two events. Physical switches can also overwrite a saved cold-and-dark state when the plug-in connects, so set the panel switches to the intended starting positions before loading the flight.

How do I configure Flight Panels for add-on aircraft?

Use an aircraft-specific profile when a panel works with default aircraft but not with a complex add-on. Many detailed aircraft use local variables, HTML events or custom autopilot logic instead of the standard simulator events expected by Logitech’s basic plug-in.

  • Create a separate profile for each aircraft family or substantially different variant.
  • Use explicit ON and OFF events for two-position switches where available; a generic toggle can leave the physical switch and virtual cockpit out of synchronisation.
  • Map display output separately from button input. A command may operate correctly while the Multi Panel or Radio Panel still shows the wrong value.
  • Allow only one companion application to control the hardware.

For autopilot-specific mapping, display faults and custom aircraft variables, follow our detailed Multi Panel configuration and troubleshooting steps.

Why is my Logitech panel blank or not detected?

The point at which the panel fails identifies whether the cause is USB hardware, the companion plug-in or the aircraft itself.

SymptomLikely causeFix

Commands occur twiceTwo panel managers or duplicate bindingsClose the extra helper and remove overlapping assignments

MSFS 2024 normally includes SimConnect, so installing an old FSX runtime should not be the first response. If the panel passes its hardware test but no SimConnect-based utility can reach the simulator, use our steps to check and repair the MSFS SimConnect connection.

Do Logitech Flight Panels work with MSFS 2024 on console?

This installation method is for Windows PC. The panels rely on Windows drivers and companion software that cannot be installed on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro; connecting the panel through USB alone does not provide console compatibility.
