Set up Saitek or Logitech Pro Flight panels in MSFS 2024, fix blank displays and USB faults, and make controls work with add-on aircraft.
On PC, install the current Logitech/Saitek Flight Panels software or an MSFS 2024-compatible panel plug-in, connect each panel to a powered USB port, restart Windows, then test it in a default aircraft with the battery and avionics on. These panels usually do not need ordinary control bindings inside Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
What software do Pro Flight panels need for MSFS 2024?
The Switch Panel, Multi Panel, Radio Panel and Flight Instrument Panel need software that passes data between the hardware and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Windows recognising the USB device is not enough.
Older Saitek units and Logitech-branded versions use the same basic approach, but a legacy FSX-era driver or an MSFS 2020-only plug-in may not communicate correctly with MSFS 2024. Use a package whose documentation explicitly names MSFS 2024; if the manufacturer package does not support your aircraft, use one configurable panel bridge rather than running two competing utilities.

How do I install and test the panels?
- Disconnect the panels. If an old Saitek or Logitech panel package is installed, remove or disable conflicting simulator plug-ins before replacing it. Do not let two panel applications control the same hardware.
- Install compatible panel software. Use the manufacturer package or a configurable bridge that explicitly supports Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Install both the hardware driver and simulator component when they are offered separately.
- Restart Windows. This allows the drivers, background service and simulator plug-in to initialise cleanly.
- Connect one panel first. Use a direct motherboard USB port for the initial test. Once it works, add the remaining panels; a powered USB hub is preferable for a full stack.
- Run the hardware test. If the installed package includes a test utility, confirm that its switches, knobs, LEDs and displays respond before opening the simulator.
- Start with a default aircraft. Load a stock aircraft equipped with the relevant radios or autopilot, then switch on the battery, avionics and any required buses. A cold-and-dark cockpit can legitimately leave the Radio or Multi Panel display blank.
- Check one function at a time. Test radio frequencies, heading and altitude selection, autopilot buttons, lighting switches and the gear lever. A fixed-gear aircraft cannot test the landing-gear controls.
- Create aircraft-specific profiles last. Only begin custom mapping after the panels work in a stock aircraft. This separates an installation fault from an add-on compatibility problem.
Do the panels need bindings in MSFS Controls?
Most dedicated Pro Flight panels should be controlled by their plug-in, not by a normal MSFS control profile. They may be absent from the Controls screen or appear there without useful assignable inputs.
A mistake we see constantly is assigning the same autopilot or switch command in MSFS while the panel utility is already sending it. The resulting duplicate input can make switches bounce, values change twice or autopilot modes cancel immediately. Leave those panel assignments empty unless your chosen software specifically instructs otherwise.

Why is my Saitek or Logitech panel blank?
A blank panel is usually caused by aircraft electrical state, missing bridge software, USB power or a plug-in that failed to start.

Keep MSFS and the panel application at the same Windows privilege level; normally neither should need administrator mode. If one runs as administrator and the other does not, communication can fail. Also check that Windows security has not blocked the panel executable.
Why do the panels work in default aircraft but not add-ons?
Complex add-on aircraft often use custom simulator variables and internal system logic instead of the standard events expected by the basic Logitech plug-in. The panel is functioning, but the aircraft is ignoring or replacing its commands.
Use the simple manufacturer plug-in when you mainly fly stock aircraft and want minimal configuration. Choose an MSFS 2024-compatible configurable bridge when you need per-aircraft profiles, custom variables, different button behaviour or reliable support for complex airliners.

Some apparent faults are simply aircraft limitations. A turbine or FADEC aircraft may ignore the Switch Panel’s magneto positions, a custom autopilot may reject generic mode commands, and gear lights report the simulated gear state rather than the physical lever position.
Can Pro Flight panels be used on Xbox or PlayStation?
Conventional Saitek and Logitech Pro Flight panels are effectively Windows-PC peripherals because they depend on desktop drivers and a simulator plug-in. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, but those consoles cannot run the required Windows panel software.
A console-compatible yoke is a separate question: certification applies to the exact controller and platform, not to every product carrying the Saitek or Logitech name. Do not assume that a working USB yoke makes the Radio, Multi or Switch Panel console-compatible.
