Editorial
The Antonov is an aircraft that I’ve had a fair amount of dealing with in the past. Indeed, I’ve been using it a lot as myself and some friends delve into more Eastern-based aircraft. Well, I got round to trying out this FS2004 take on the Antonov AN-12B Ukraine AF.
It’s an aircraft that immediately peaked my knowledge and was something that I wanted to try out from first glance. It looked pretty impressive in terms of the design features, and it also had plenty of positive reviews around it.
So, I picked up a copy to see what I made of it.
An Authentic Design
The design is very impressive for an FS2004 model. The quality of the layout is very impressive, as is the general scale of the aircraft. This continues into the interior, with a clean and easy to work with cockpit. Given the kind of aircraft this is, it’s hardly got much going on in the way of design spoilers and features.
That being said, the developer, Vladimir Zhyhulskiy, done a pretty spectacular job with this model. It looks fantastic compared to many other FS2004 models, too, using impressive animation with high-end detail in textures.
The GMax model shines through here, with attention to detail a very important part of the design. However, the excellent design is held together by the quality of the sounds. These authentic sounds give the aircraft that added profile and character, fueling the rumbling sound that vibrates from the aircraft when moving.
Overall, the design quality is very impressive. When mixed in with the rather generic but still closely tuned and authentic flight dynamics, this aircraft manages as I had expected it to. However, that is no bad thing – the Antonov AN-12B is a well-loved aircraft, and it’s easy to see why!

What is the overall length of the aircraft & length of wing span?
