This freeware release features a meticulously crafted texture package depicting the VFA-113 “Stingers” F/A-18E Super Hornet as seen during an early 2014 appearance in Palm Springs. It is intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator X pilots who own the payware VRS F/A-18E Super Hornet (V1.4 only). The real-world Strike Fighter Squadron 113 (VFA-113), often labeled the “Stingers,” operates out of Naval Air Station Lemoore in California and has a storied history supporting fleet readiness. Developed by Nathan Havercroft with contributions from fbk289 (whose repaint kit was employed), this package provides an authentic rendition of the squadron's distinct line markings.
Key Textural Highlights
These repaints incorporate enhanced panel lines and squadron-specific insignia to match the aircraft’s actual color scheme. The real VFA-113 “Stingers” leverages the high-performance F/A-18E, a twin-engine Navy fighter best known for its robust multirole capabilities. Each fuselage marking has been closely adapted to replicate the genuine details, including squadron logos and operational graphics.

Squadron Structure and Background
Formed as a critical element of U.S. Naval Aviation, the “Stingers” have participated in various operational deployments. Their F/A-18E jets are equipped for both strike missions and air superiority tasks aboard aircraft carriers. NAS Lemoore has long been the central hub for F/A-18 operations on the West Coast, and VFA-113 continues to uphold that tradition by contributing to the Navy’s forward presence.
Compatibility Requirements
- Designed specifically for the VRS F/A-18E Super Hornet (V1.4) in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
- Requires the payware model, purchased separately from a reputable online add-on store (such as SimShack).
Applying the Custom Line Textures
- Unzip this package to a convenient location on your system.
- Launch the VRS Aircraft Configuration Manager (ACM) and navigate to the import function.
- Select the extracted repaint folder and confirm installation through the ACM interface.
The final result will incorporate an authentic Stingers design true to its real-world counterpart. Feel free to use these textures for carrier-based operations or training flights to explore the precision and agility provided by the F/A-18E. Special thanks to fbk289 for supplying the essential repaint kit and to Nathan Havercroft for creating this detailed set of liveries.
