This freeware repaint brings an Iran Air Airbus A300-600R rendition into Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It celebrates the efforts of Thomas Ruth, who originally designed the base A300-600R model, and the dedicated repaint work of Christophe Bonneville. This specific livery highlights Iran Air’s classic color scheme and tail emblem, reflecting an important era in the airline’s history of operating wide-body Airbus aircraft.

Airbus A300-600R Airframe Essentials

The Airbus A300-600R (sometimes referred to in technical contexts as the “A306”) represents a mid-to-long-range twin-engine jet from the late 1980s, incorporating extended-range (ER) features and upgraded avionics. It is widely recognized for its distinct wingspan and meticulously engineered wide-body design. Under many airline fleets, it proved versatile for medium-haul international routes, providing both cargo and passenger capacities. Iran Air, known for connecting domestic and international destinations, flew the A300 family to serve multiple regional airports.

Livery Highlights and Visual Fidelity

This repaint faithfully reproduces the Iran Air insignia and classic tail markings. You will see the prominent bird logo, traditional fuselage stripe, and carefully placed window configurations, all harmonizing with authentic colors. When viewed from external perspectives, the high-resolution textures accentuate wing structure details and engine nacelle features that define this particular Airbus variant. Cockpit views remain true to Thomas Ruth’s underlying model, providing an immersive piloting environment.

Key Technical Notes

  • Engine Configuration: General Electric CF6 series engines are replicated in the base model, delivering realistic thrust responses.
  • Flight Dynamics: Thomas Ruth’s aircraft files incorporate refined aerodynamics tailored for the A300 family.
  • Tail Section Detailing: Distinctive horizontal stabilizer shape and tail cone geometry are preserved.
  • Cockpit Panel Layout: The panel arrangement follows a classic Airbus layout, allowing intuitive aircraft system oversight.

Installation Steps

Before installing, ensure you have the freeware Airbus A300-600R by Thomas Ruth (the base package) already in your simulator. That base model is not included in this repaint download. You can obtain it in the Fly Away Simulation library. Once you have the original files correctly in place, extract and paste the repaint texture folder to the appropriate SimObjects directory. Then, incorporate the following entry into your aircraft.cfg file, incrementing the [fltsim.xx] accordingly:

Developer Remarks

This release is free to download and use, reflecting a collaboration between two community contributors: Thomas Ruth, who provided the original model, and Christophe Bonneville, responsible for the livery’s textures. Their combined efforts have resulted in a faithful representation of the Airbus A300-600R in Iran Air’s colors. With careful attention to details such as fuselage markings, engine elements, and airline branding, this repaint aims to simulate the look and feel of the air carrier’s fleet operations within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Have fun exploring the skies with this classic configuration.
