Scenery Riverside Airport (4B2), New York (NY). Constructed in the early 1960's, Riverside was neatly wedged between I-90 and the Erie Canal. It was closed in 1995 to make room for Route 49 between Rome and Utica. This airport boasted a 3500 foot runway, a 10,000 foot water runway, and an FAA-certified aircraft mechanic school. Screenshot of Riverside Airport.
A couple years back, I ran into a website called "Abandoned and Little Known Airfields" by Paul Freeman. There I saw airports that I had not seen in many years. In some cases, I had only seen their ruins. It inspired me to create these airports in FS. This site has become my inspiration and reference "jumping off" point in a lot of my designs.
INSTALLATION:
All but one file go into /Addon Scenery/Scenery/
AFX_4B2_ALT.bgl goes into /Scenery/World/Scenery/
That file is a Flatten file that will be needed to - Oh, I don't know... flatten.
ISSUES:
You may find the ground peeking through the runway - very rarely and for a short time. At this point, I am baffled, befuddled, confused, and even a little flummoxed. If so, simply force a scenery reload by toggling the "empty scenery cache" button in the Scenery Library section of the menus.
AS ALWAYS:
I hope you enjoy this as much as I. I welcome CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and help. I do this as a hobby and, as such, charge nothing. If satisfied, drop me a line. If dissatisfied, let me know and feel free to delete it or dive-bomb on it.
LIBRARIES NEEDED:
ez-ga hangers ss.bgl
hangar_old_brick.bgl
small_airport_objects_3.bgl
ESDG_HangerKit.bgl
