Experience an Antarctic repaint for the Basler BT-67 in Microsoft Flight Simulator X with this package featuring the ALCI (Antarctic Logistics Centre International) airframe nicknamed “Mia.” This texture is tailored for polar operations and fits seamlessly into the specialized BT-67 model. The authors—Daniel Fuernkaess, Manfred Jahn, Alexander M. Metzger, and Hansjoerg Naegele—collaborated to bring an authentic flying experience to enthusiasts seeking a glimpse of how DC-3 derivatives perform in remote regions. The repaint is provided by Cheese-Strike Repaints (Daniel Fuernkaess) and showcases “Mia” in striking livery detail.

Evolution of the Basler BT-67

The Basler BT-67 emerges from a thorough conversion of the legendary DC-3 airframe. Technicians extend the fuselage, upgrade engines to turboprops, and add state-of-the-art avionics, enhancing performance in harsh environments. This adaptation allows operators such as ALCI to handle demanding Antarctic routes with improved cargo capacity and reliability. The DC-3’s robust design gains newfound utility, making the Basler variant invaluable for logistics flights.

Livery Highlights: “Mia” in Polar Colors

This repaint captures the Arctic and Antarctic spirit with vivid markings reflecting ALCI’s presence in sub-zero theaters. Whether operating from remote ice runways or rugged gravel strips, “Mia” adds realism to your FSX environment. Both ski-equipped and non-ski variants ensure adaptability for multiple terrains, commemorating the arduous missions typically performed in real-world Antarctic areas.

Installation Steps

  1. Verify you have a functional Basler BT-67 model installed. If needed, acquire and install the freeware base package from the Fly Away Simulation mod library beforehand.
  2. Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP into a temporary folder.
  3. Locate your “Basler_BT67” folder under “Flight Simulator X\Simobjects\Airplanes\” and copy the texture.C-GEAJ and texture.C-GEAJ_ski directories there.
  4. Open your aircraft.cfg file using a text editor (for instance, Notepad). Locate the final [fltsim] entry and paste the new [fltsim] sections below it. Increase the numerical value of [fltsim.x] to the next in sequence. Pay attention to the part where it says [fltsim.x+1] for the second variation.

Important Notes

This rendition is solely a repaint for the freeware Basler BT-67 and requires the original base package for normal operation. Distribution is intended for freeware usage only, respecting the efforts of its developers and contributors. Enjoy a realistic simulation of polar logistics flights with the iconic Basler platform under ALCI colors. Take to the skies and experience the versatility of this modernized DC-3 conversion in complex flight environments.
