Immerse yourself in an authentic 1951 airline experience by adding these Trans World Airlines (TWA) textures to the freeware Martin 202A model originally developed by Dee Waldron. Created by Gary Harper, this repaint offers era-specific markings that reflect TWA’s post-war operations. It is designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (FS2004) and provides a historical gateway to aviation’s early turboprop era, complete with accurate finishes and careful attention to detail.

Enhanced TWA Livery from the Early 1950s

The Martin 202A served as a short-haul, twin-engine transport introduced after World War II. Although the initial 2-0-2 series faced significant structural concerns, the upgraded 2-0-2A model emerged with improved integrity and reliability. TWA (Trans World Airlines) employed these aircraft for regional operations across the United States, utilizing the unpressurized cabin to transport travelers along shorter routes. This particular repaint represents a TWA aircraft circa 1951, showcasing a classic fuselage design and historically accurate markings.

Key Highlights of the 202A Variant

  • Reinforced Airframe: The initial series encountered numerous design flaws, which led to subsequent structural reinforcements in the 202A model.
  • Short-Range Operations: Ideal for lower-altitude flights, this variant could maintain a faster cruise speed at reduced flight levels.
  • Distinctive Post-War Design: Engineers swiftly introduced the Martin 2-0-2 to meet airline demand after WWII, marking a notable shift away from wartime production.
  • Maintains Authentic Paintwork: Gary Harper’s repaint meticulously replicates TWA’s iconic scheme from the early 1950s.

description=Produced shortly after WWII, the Martin 2-0-2 had early structural setbacks. Only a handful of 2-0-2A aircraft emerged after reworking, featuring safer design improvements. Although operating at lower altitudes, these unpressurized short-haulers used by TWA offered a fast and efficient service for brief sector distances.

Additional Notes

  • This repaint package does not include the base model; obtain the freeware Martin 202A model from the Fly Away Simulation library.
  • Flight characteristics rely on the M404 .air file for more accurate dynamics, as instructed by the author.
  • All credit for the textures goes to Gary Harper, and the original aircraft model was created by Dee Waldron.
