Editorial

The first time I ever even heard of the Lufthansa name was watching the cult mob movie Goodfellas, but I have to say that in my adult life it’s one of the most common designs of aircraft I get the pleasure of trying out. This FS2004 Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 is a flashy looking model that carries the Lufthansa name in that typically minimalist style, making the aircraft look really effective and professional.

So, what did I make of this mod? Was it a worthwhile add-on to your collection or is it no more than the normal Airbus with the Lufthansa name slapped on?

The Design

The first thing to notice is the quality of the design – this is more than just the basic look, this is a photorealistic texture that looks wonderful. Felix Tchvertkin has done a swell job on putting together a classic and authentic take on the aircraft itself, bringing it to life in rue style. One thing that really stood out for me, though, was the quality of the textures. Sometimes photorealistic textures can look quite cheap on 3D models but with this it done a marvelous job of bringing that all together with relative ease.

The Model

Another deeply popular design, the Lufthansa Airbus model here is excellent. The model by Simubuild has been taken and improved massively with the new photorealistic textures, but the old one looked excellent as well. This adds a fresh and exciting look and feel to the whole thing, giving you an aircraft that is really easy to appreciate.

The model is solid for an FS2004 design, giving you a genuine appreciation of what makes this aircraft so sturdy and effective. You can see the multiple improvements added to the model which make it look better than it ever has!

Whilst its for an old an outdated sim, this does not show its age too much. The whole look and feel of tis is awesome, giving you an aircraft that you can respect as much as anything else. Interested in using this model? You can install it with a matter of seconds, as well.

Alongside being extremely easy on the eye and realtively easy to manipulate in the cockpit, the model itself has been the main concentration of the mod here. It does not do too much on the cockpit side of things, but still massively improves over the original A340-600.
