FSX Boeing B-52 Stratofortress Update

Boeing B-52H Stratofortress for Microsoft Flight Simulator X arrives as a complete aircraft package with refreshed flight dynamics and added smoke effects, building on the classic Mike Stone model. It includes functional crew and bomb-bay door animations plus practical operating-speed references for smoother, more believable heavy-bomber handling.

This is an update for FSX of the B-52H by Mike Stone. I have updated the flight dynamics, and added smoke. This is the whole aircraft.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft folder to the airplanes folder and the effect to the main effects folder.

The crew door opens with shift+E. The bomb bay doors open with shift+E+2. There seems to be a problem with the bomb bay doors. It seems you have to hit the keys simultaneously and just right for the doors to open or close. This may be because I use a Windows driven Dvorak keyboard, rather than a hard-wired Dvorak keyboard; or it may be a problem for everyone.

I did not put all the wheels in for this update because FSX doesn't accept some wheel arrangements, or maybe just don't like more than 6 wheels total.

See [reference speeds] section of the aircraft.cfg file for operating speeds.

Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them.

Bob Chicilo.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

Excellent airplane but needs radios for navigation. Any fix for it? Thank you.

regarding previous comment, using Win7 64bit Sp1. I just installed this on a winXP sp3 32bit system my dad uses, it ran fine for him but is a slow computer not hooked up to our TV so that we can all play and watch together..
